Over the past 60 years, those of us who have dedicated our lives to Quang Ninh have witnessed unprecedented changes. From a traditional heavy industrial province relying on coal mining, Quang Ninh has now become a leading dynamically developing locality in the North, an international tourism and service center, and a trade gateway for the Northeast region. Quang Ninh people today are not only proud of their coal mines and the Ha Long World Heritage Site, but also proud of their will to innovate, to dare to think, to dare to do, to dare to be one step ahead in all fields. That is the spirit of the Heroic Land, the origin of many creative policies that have spread throughout the country. Each project, route, and modern urban area that has sprung up is a vivid testament to the aspirations of many generations. Quang Ninh today clearly shows the strength of national unity and the vision of the Provincial Party Committee. We believe that in the coming years, the province will develop even more strongly, worthy of its position as the driving force of the region and the whole country.

Over the past 62 years of construction and development, Quang Ninh has always had the support of generations of cadres, party members, people, armed forces and the business community. From a province whose economy depended mainly on coal mining, it has gradually become a province with a dynamic and prosperous economy; stable politics; and constantly improving people's lives, becoming an economic growth pole of the Northern region and the whole country.

The province is entering a new development phase, planned to become a centrally-run city before 2030. This requires all levels, sectors and localities to actively implement solutions to meet the criteria on population size, urbanization rate, infrastructure, transport network, education, health, culture, environment; improve the quality of economic growth and budget revenue. With the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" and the achievements gained over 62 years of construction and development, we are confident that Quang Ninh will become a centrally-run city before 2030 in accordance with the spirit of the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Party Congress.

On the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the province's founding, I am proud to think about the journey of my hometown. I was born and raised in Son Duong commune, which was then a highland of Hoanh Bo district, later part of Ha Long city. Many years ago, Son Duong had difficult traffic, many households had small-scale production, self-sufficiency, and people's lives were still difficult.

Now my hometown is changing more and more clearly, not only concrete roads, spacious houses, electricity to every village, but also the way of thinking and doing of the people. People know how to convert production, do commodity economy, apply technology, expand experiential tourism. Many households in the village have an income of hundreds of millions of VND/year from growing fruit trees, raising fish, providing services. That is the greatest achievement of 62 years of development, the province not only builds modern urban areas, but also revives, awakens the potential of each land, each person, brings the spirit of self-reliance and innovation to each person. The path the province chooses is sustainable development associated with the happiness of the people, which is the right direction, full of meaning.
