Two lakes, Song Quao and Suoi Da, increased flood discharge, warning downstream areas.

Accordingly, on October 27, Binh Thuan Irrigation Construction and Engineering Company Limited increased the water flow regulation through the spillway of Song Quao reservoir, Ham Thuan Bac commune with a regulated flow of 150 - ^300m3 /s.

The increase in flood discharge is to create more flood prevention capacity for the reservoir, and the Company has notified the People's Committees of relevant communes and wards to coordinate in implementing response plans. By 9:00 a.m. on October 30, the water level of Song Quao reservoir was at +90.49m, 0.32m higher than the normal water level; the water flow being discharged through the spillway was about 235m³/s, while the water flow into the reservoir was up to 850m³/s due to heavy rain in the upstream area from early morning of the same day. In order to ensure the safety of the project when the rain continues, Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited plans to continue increasing the flood discharge from 4:00 p.m. on October 30, with a regulation level of 300 - 500m³/s depending on the amount of water reaching the reservoir and the downstream situation.

At Suoi Da Lake, on September 29, 2025, Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited operated the discharge of buffer water through the spillway with a flow rate of 3 - 10m³/s to increase the reservoir's flood prevention capacity. By the evening of October 29, the upstream area had continuous heavy rain, causing the amount of water flowing into the lake to increase rapidly. As of 8:00 a.m. on October 30, the water level of Suoi Da Lake was at +46.33m, 0.67m lower than the normal rising water level but continued to rise with a water flow of about 30m³/s. To ensure the safety of the project, the Company will increase the discharge through the spillway from 4:00 p.m. on the same day, with an expected regulation level of 5 - 40m³/s depending on the amount of water flowing into the lake and downstream developments.

Previously, according to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the coming days, there will continue to be rain in the province. Therefore, increasing water regulation is necessary to ensure the safety of the Song Quao and Suoi Da lakes.

To prevent damage, Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited requests the People's Committees of relevant communes and wards to promptly notify people living along the flood drainage route of Song Quao Lake, Suoi Da Lake and the river mouth area to grasp the situation, proactively deploy prevention plans, and ensure safety of people and property.
