Ho Ho Hydropower Plant and Ke Go Lake increase spillway discharge

(Baohatinh.vn) - Faced with the rapid flow of water from upstream, Ho Ho Hydropower Plant has increased the spillway discharge to 1,104 m3/s, and at Ke Go Lake it is 350 m3/s.

At 2:00 p.m. on October 31, Ho Ho Hydropower Plant was spilling water at a flow rate of 1,104 m3/s.

On the afternoon of October 31, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tuan - Deputy Director of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant said: There was heavy rain in the upstream area, the amount of water flowing into the plant's reservoir increased rapidly. In this situation, to ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area, the unit increased the regulated flow through the spillway.

Specifically, at 2:00 p.m., the upstream water level was 66.64 m, the downstream water level was 24.3 m; the water flow into the reservoir of Ho Ho Hydropower Plant was 1,142 m 3 / second. Accordingly, the reservoir is overflowing with a flow of 1,104 m 3 / second.

Currently, the factory area is still experiencing quite heavy rain. The factory management and operation unit is closely monitoring the weather, rainfall, and water flow from upstream to the lake to regulate water appropriately.

Meanwhile, heavy rains also caused water to flow into irrigation lakes in Ha Tinh to increase rapidly. The current water levels of lakes in the province are Ke Go Lake 31.76/32.5m, capacity 319/345 million m 3 , reaching 92.5% of the design; Song Rac Lake 24.14/23.2m, capacity 124.5/124.5 million m 3 , reaching 100% of the design; Ngan Truoi Lake 44.78/52m, capacity 500/775.7 million m 3 , reaching 64.45% of the design.

Medium and small reservoirs have capacity of 90 - 100% of design capacity.

The discharge flow of the lakes is: Ke Go 350m 3 /sec, Song Rac 435m 3 /sec, Kim Son 50m 3 /sec, Thuong Song Tri 100m 3 /sec, Tau Voi 10m 3 /sec, Khe Xai 20m 3 /sec, Boc Nguyen 10m 3 /sec, Da Han 40m 3 /sec.

Ke Go Lake is spilling over at a flow rate of 250 m3/s.

According to information from the Ha Tinh Hydrometeorological Station, at 1 p.m. the water level at Chu Le Hydrological Station was 11.14m (0.36m below alarm level 1); at Huong Trach Hydrological Station, the water level rose to 1.32m.

Due to heavy rain, the water level at the upstream station Huong Trach is rising rapidly, so it is forecasted that in the next 2-3 hours it will rise above alert level 1 and tonight or tomorrow morning it may rise to alert level 2.
