According to a quick report from the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, heavy rains since the night of October 30 have caused widespread flooding, affecting 5,726 out of 12,797 households in Ham Thang ward; 300 households had to be urgently evacuated to safety.

The neighborhoods of Kim Binh, Kim Ngoc, Thang Hiep, Thang Thuan, Phu Hoa, Phu Xuan and Phu My were the most severely damaged, with water levels rising 1-2 meters, inundating hundreds of houses, crops and aquaculture ponds.

By noon on October 31, the authorities had mobilized 5 canoes from the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command and local rescue forces to promptly reach isolated areas and evacuate more than 200 people from the danger zone. Essential necessities were also brought in to support the affected people.

Mr. Le Van Cuong, resident of Kim Ngoc neighborhood, shared: "The water rose so quickly, the whole neighborhood was submerged in water, the fields and shrimp ponds were also flooded. Luckily, the rescue canoe arrived in time, taking my family and neighbors to safety."

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh personally visited some heavily flooded neighborhoods, presented relief gifts and encouraged people to soon overcome difficulties.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh requested the Ham Thang ward authorities and related units to continue to evacuate people from deeply flooded areas, regularly update weather conditions, and closely coordinate with the irrigation reservoir management unit to promptly respond and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also acknowledged and commended the proactive and urgent spirit of the rescue forces, along with the joint efforts of the people and volunteer teams in effectively implementing the "4 on-the-spot" motto.

The province will mobilize all resources to support people to stabilize their lives, repair their homes, restore agricultural production and return to normal life soon. Forces will continue to be on duty until all people are safe and the situation is completely stable.
