Meeting to discuss solutions to overcome landslides on National Highway 20, D'Ran Pass Suspension Bridge area

Attending the meeting were representatives of the Provincial Civil Defense Command, the Irrigation Sub-Department, the Forestry Sub-Department, the Geology - Minerals Department, the Traffic Police Department - Provincial Police, Project Management Board 85 - Ministry of Construction , People's Committee of Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat, Lam Vien Forest Management Board, Lam Dong Road Maintenance Project Management Board, the regular maintenance contractor - Construction Investment Joint Stock Company 886 and specialized departments under the Department of Construction.

According to the Department of Construction of Lam Dong province, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, from October 28, 2025, at Km262+400 to Km262+530, National Highway 20 (D'Ran Pass Suspension Bridge area, Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat) there was a landslide on the positive slope and damage to the road infrastructure, causing traffic obstruction and potential safety risks.

Representatives of the Department of Construction quickly informed about the landslide situation and proposed solutions to handle and overcome it.

According to a quick report from the Lam Dong Department of Construction, the landslide area is about 10 meters long, with rocks and trees spilling onto the road surface; the roadbed has cracks about 10 centimeters wide, 3 centimeters deep, nearly 30 meters long and about half of the road surface has sunk.

Notably, by the afternoon of October 29, a new landslide appeared on the route above the positive slope with an area of 3,500m², a height of about 30m, an estimated landslide volume of 60,000m³, and about 60 pine trees in the landslide area, posing a high risk of landslides.

Representative of the Provincial Forest Protection Department informed about the plan to cut down 60 pine trees in the landslide area.

The Department of Construction has directed the Road Maintenance Project Management Board to coordinate with the People's Committee of Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat and the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police to urgently survey, put up warning signs, arrange guards, temporarily ban vehicles from passing through dangerous areas and develop a plan to reduce the load on the slope to ensure traffic safety.

At the meeting, the units discussed and agreed on a plan to coordinate temporary traffic diversion, ensuring safety for people and vehicles; and reviewed the location of landslide material dumping.

At the same time, a plan was developed to deal with affected forest trees within the landslide area. Representatives of specialized agencies proposed technical solutions to reduce the load on the slope, reinforce the slope and temporarily drain water, preventing the risk of further landslides.
