At approximately 8:30 AM on October 26th, while Ms. Le and her husband were driving a truck carrying ceramics on the Lo Xo Pass (heading from Quang Ngai to Da Nang ), a severe landslide suddenly occurred near the Dak Mon bridge, rendering their vehicle immobile. Besides their truck, about 19 other vehicles were also stranded, forming a long line on the pass.
At that time, the vehicle only had a few bottles of water left, no food, and no phone signal. The drivers could only sit and wait, asking each other for information about the landslide and the estimated time for traffic to resume. Around 5 PM that day, while they were worried about the lack of food, rescue forces brought instant noodles and water to supply the family and others in similar circumstances. Upon receiving the food, the couple were overjoyed and shed tears, saying it was one of the best packets of instant noodles they had ever eaten.

The following morning, after the vehicle had reversed a short distance towards Quang Ngai , the couple finally got a phone signal to call home and let their family know they were safe. On October 27th, the rescue team delivered rice, water, and food twice. By October 28th, the amount of food delivered was more consistent, so the drivers no longer had to worry about food shortages.

For three days, stranded on the mountain pass in heavy rain, all activities took place inside the vehicle. The drivers helped and shared everything from phone chargers to bottles of water. The couple and many others collected rainwater for use. At night, the family slept in the cabin, and when they slightly opened the door for ventilation, wind and rain rushed in, making them cold and freezing.

“It is in times of hardship that we see the true warmth of human kindness. Inside the isolated area, we helped each other, sharing supplies little by little to survive each day; outside, the rescue forces continuously provided supplies. That warmed our hearts, gave us more motivation to overcome difficulties, and we only hope that the pass will be reopened soon so we can return to our families,” Ms. Le said emotionally.

As reported, since October 26th, landslides have occurred on the Lo Xo pass in the Da Nang and Quang Ngai areas, disrupting traffic and leaving approximately 35 vehicles with 50 people stranded on the pass for several days.
