In Hoi Nhon village, Ham Liem commune, this morning (October 28), floodwaters rose high, inundating houses, many roads, dragon fruit gardens, and rice fields were deeply inundated. According to local people, this was the first time floodwaters rose so high and so quickly. Some households in low-lying areas were isolated.

Authorities used ropes to help people evacuate.

By noon on October 28, floods had inundated 30 households, 15 roads, and nearly 300 hectares of rice, dragon fruit, and vegetables in Ham Liem commune.

Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Ham Liem commune mobilized forces to urgently evacuate people in vulnerable areas, riverside areas, low-lying areas, and areas at risk of landslides to safety.

Authorities help people evacuate to high ground.

During the night of October 27 and the morning of October 28, local authorities and functional forces approached the scene, mobilized and evacuated 36 households to safe areas. At the same time, assigned people to handle situations, and warned people not to go through deep and heavily flooded areas.

Mr. Pham Dinh Vuong, Vice Chairman of Ham Liem Commune People's Committee, said: Heavy rain and the flood discharge from Song Quao Lake caused the water level to rise very high and quickly.

Present with the support forces, Vice Chairman of Ham Liem Commune People's Committee Pham Dinh Vuong said: Heavy rains combined with the discharge of floodwater from Song Quao Lake caused the water level to rise very quickly. The local government directed the rescue forces to promptly move the people to high, safe places.

Many dragon fruit fields were heavily flooded.

Mr. Vuong also added that the commune currently has many low-lying areas such as: Residential Groups 4, 5, 6, 7 and An Phu village... These are places that are often flooded due to heavy rain. Therefore, the locality is always proactive in implementing timely rescue measures, ensuring the lives and property of the people.

The "4 on-site" force of Ham Liem commune supports the evacuation of the elderly and children to avoid floods.

To quickly overcome difficulties for the people, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province has issued a document directing units and localities to proactively respond to heavy rains, floods, flash floods, and landslides. The People's Committee of the province requested the police, military, relevant departments and branches... to send leaders directly to the area, grasp the situation, support people to overcome difficulties, and soon stabilize their lives.
