The family of Ms. Luong Thi Vinh (47 years old, Ban Chuong village, Luc Hon commune) is one of the typical cases. A near-poor household, her husband passed away early, leaving her to single-handedly raise her 12-year-old daughter and support her education. For many years, the two lived in a dilapidated, severely run-down house, living in constant fear during the rainy season. At the end of 2023, through the Provincial Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Charitable Donations and various benefactors, they received financial assistance to build a new house.
The house, built to "three solid" standards, has an area of 40m² and is valued at 250 million VND, of which 50 million VND was contributed by philanthropists. The remaining amount was borrowed by Ms. Vinh from relatives. After two years living in the new house, Ms. Vinh emotionally shared: "Since having the new house, my daughter and I have more motivation to strive. We no longer worry about storms and heavy rain, and I have paid off all my loans. Thank you to everyone who helped my daughter and me escape poverty."

Thanks to the community's collective efforts, the family of Mr. Luc Van Ngan (50 years old, Khe Lo village, Ba Che commune) has finally secured a sturdy home after many years living in a dilapidated single-story house. Mr. Ngan and his two children are all disabled, and their lives have been fraught with difficulties. Support from the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV), the local government, and the Provincial Red Cross Society has helped his family build a new, safe, and solid house.
Mr. Luc Van Ngan expressed: "Every rainy season, we felt insecure because our old house could collapse at any time. Thanks to the attention of the authorities and the TKV Group, my family now has a safe place to live. For the past two years, we no longer worry about storms, and our lives are much more stable."
These two cases are just a few of the dozens of disadvantaged families who have received support from various levels of government, organizations, and philanthropists to build charitable houses, humanitarian houses, and solidarity houses in recent times. This is an activity with profound humanitarian significance, especially in disadvantaged areas where the percentage of poor, near-poor, and vulnerable households remains high.
According to the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Disadvantaged Children, during the period 2021-2025, the Association mobilized organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to support the construction of 44 new houses for disadvantaged families, totaling 2.6 billion VND. In 2025 alone, the Association is calling for the construction of 5 houses, worth 300 million VND, for households with people with disabilities and disadvantaged children, and those in difficult circumstances. The Chairman of the Provincial Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Disadvantaged Children, Lãnh Thế Vinh, stated: "We prioritize support for vulnerable people in ethnic minority areas and remote regions, where the need for sturdy housing is still very great. Building new houses not only meets basic living needs but also helps people gain more confidence and motivation to improve their lives."
In addition, the Provincial Red Cross Society has maintained coordination with the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group (TKV) for many years to implement a humanitarian housing program. In 2024 alone, through the Vietnam Red Cross Society , TKV supported the construction of 13 houses for ethnic minority households in difficult circumstances. In 2025, TKV committed to supporting 20 more houses, with a total budget of 1.4 billion VND, including 8 houses for ethnic minority households facing significant hardship.
Thanks to timely and targeted support, social security policies in the province have been increasingly strengthened. To date, the entire province has achieved the goal of eliminating newly emerging temporary and dilapidated houses, and there are no longer any poor or near-poor households according to the central and provincial standards.
According to statistics from the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, in the two years 2024-2025, the province mobilized over 27 billion VND from social resources to support the construction and repair of 472 houses for disadvantaged households. This result significantly contributes to the province's achievement of the targets set in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU dated May 17, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee on sustainable development of ethnic minority, mountainous, border, and island areas for the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030.
These newly built houses are a testament to the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," the companionship of the community, and the social responsibility of organizations and businesses in the province towards people facing difficulties, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority regions.
