According to the actual scene on December 8, many sections of the embankment were eroded and subsided, creating deep frog jaws that ate into the sidewalk of Tran Thanh Tong Street, directly threatening the roadbed and surrounding infrastructure. The concrete beam frame system of the solid embankment was also broken, broken into many sections; lying piled up under the riverbank. Many concrete slabs reinforcing the embankment and rocks were washed away into the riverbed. Many trees along the river were uprooted, leaning towards the water, revealing their bare roots. The once solid embankment was deeply eroded by the water, creating vertical walls about 3 meters high, very dangerous for people passing by.

Ms. Pham Thi Hien, a resident of Lap Thach residential group, Nam Dong Ha ward, quietly looked at the embankment sections lying haphazardly on the riverbank and worriedly said that the embankment erosion has seriously affected the lives and homes of the people. The Tran Thanh Tong street, which the state invested hundreds of billions in, has just been completed and is now under threat. Many families living here want to repair and build houses but do not dare because the erosion is becoming more and more complicated and serious. People hope that the higher authorities will soon invest in rebuilding the embankment so that people can settle down and make a living.

According to many residents of Lap Thach residential group, the landslide situation of Thach Han river embankment at this section has appeared since 2020 and is becoming more and more complicated. In particular, after continuous floods in October and November, it has become more serious, with many new landslides appearing, going deeper into the mainland. The lighting pole system and trees along this route are at risk of collapsing at any time.

Mr. Nguyen The Ton, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lap Thach Residential Group, Nam Dong Ha Ward, said that landslides occur every year, and each flood deepens a little more. Previously, the distance from the road edge to the river bank was more than 6 meters, but now it has been deeply eroded, many embankment beams have fallen into the river. Up to now, the embankment has eroded for about 1 km, affecting the lives of about 60 households living in this area. People often come to exercise and do community activities in this area, which is very dangerous, especially for children. It is recommended that the State pay attention and support early repair to protect Tran Thanh Tong Street and the houses and property of households.

A representative of Nam Dong Ha ward's leadership informed that the locality is conducting a survey and grasping the situation to find solutions to ensure the safety of constructions and properties along the riverbank.

Many sections on the river bank have eroded deeply, creating frog jaws or vertical slopes of about 3m.

In recent years, high intensity floods and rains combined with the impact of climate change have caused the situation of Thach Han riverbank erosion to become more complicated. In particular, many sections of Thach Han riverbank, despite being solidly embanked, still erode during the rainy season, causing serious consequences. Such as embankment erosion in Nhu Le village, Quang Tri ward; embankment erosion and subsidence of Thach Han riverbank, 1,000m long, through Ai Tu commune... The above situation makes people and local authorities particularly worried. Relevant units recommend that the authorities soon allocate funds to invest in building a new anti-erosion embankment system to ensure the safety of life, property and stabilize people's lives.
