Be prepared for flash floods and landslides in Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM on December 10th, the provinces of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will continue to experience rain. There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in these areas.

Specifically, accumulated rainfall is generally between 10-40mm, with some areas exceeding 70mm. Warning of risk: flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in many communes/wards of Dak Lak province, including: Duc Binh, Song Hinh; Dang Kang, Ea Ba, Ea Ly, Son Thanh; Cu Prao, Cu Pui, Cuor Dang, Dlie Ya, Ea Hiao, Ea Knop, Ea Knuec, Ea Rieng, Hoa My, Hoa Thinh, Hoa Xuan, Krong Pac, Quang Phu, Suoi Trai, Tam Giang, Tan Tien, Yang Mao.

In Khanh Hoa province, the communes and wards at risk of flash floods and landslides include: Trung Khanh Vinh; Bac Ai Dong, Bac Khanh Vinh, Cong Hai, Dien Dien, Khanh Vinh, Ninh Hai, Ba Ngoi, Do Vinh, Tay Khanh Vinh, Thuan Bac, and Thuan Nam.

Level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.

Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.

The hydrometeorological agency noted that people need to regularly monitor forecast and warning information on the website of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting at nchmf.gov.vn, the provincial, municipal and regional hydrometeorological stations, and regularly update the latest hydrometeorological forecast information on the official mass media of the Central and local levels to proactively respond, and at the same time recommend that the authorities in the affected localities pay attention to reviewing the flow bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to have preventive and response measures.

According to the guidance of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), in the face of the above situation, affected areas should closely monitor developments of heavy rain, floods, flash floods, landslides, and promptly and fully inform authorities and people at all levels to proactively prevent, respond, and minimize damage.

Local authorities are deploying rapid response teams to inspect and survey residential areas along rivers and streams, and low-lying areas, in order to proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people in areas at high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides; organizing forces to be ready to control and guide traffic, and erect warning signs, especially at underpasses, overflows, and areas with deep flooding and strong currents; and proactively arranging forces, materials, and equipment to address incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow on major transportation routes when heavy rains occur.
