Ho Chi Minh City finalizes New Year's Day holiday schedule and flag-raising date: January 1, 2026.

On December 10th, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued a notice regarding the display of the national flag and the New Year's Day holiday schedule for 2026 for administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations in the city.

Accordingly, officials, civil servants, and employees at the aforementioned agencies will have a New Year's Day holiday on Thursday, January 1, 2026. The City People's Committee requests that all agencies, units, enterprises, schools, hospitals, armed forces, and households display the national flag on January 1, 2026, ensuring it is done respectfully and in accordance with regulations.

In addition, the Chairpersons of the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones, along with the heads of agencies and units, are responsible for encouraging and reminding people to display flags; and for arranging personnel on duty during holidays to ensure security and order, prevent fires, and maintain safety at offices and public recreational areas. Work departments should be arranged efficiently to ensure continuous workflow.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment is also tasked with coordinating with local authorities to guide environmental sanitation, landscape beautification, and timely garbage collection in residential areas, markets, offices, and streets. The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests increased inspections throughout the holiday period to create a clean, beautiful, and civilized environment and encourage people to participate in early-year activities in a safe and orderly atmosphere.

Ho Chi Minh City also instructed relevant units to proactively develop plans to respond to unexpected situations during the holiday, especially in areas with large crowds. Medical centers and hospitals need to deploy personnel on duty to ensure timely emergency and healthcare services for the public. In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee encouraged localities to promote civilized urban living, raise awareness of environmental protection and public order, contributing to creating a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere for the beginning of 2026.
