It is forecasted that from the evening of October 28 to October 30, in Hue city and Da Nang city, there will continue to be heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 150-350mm, locally over 550mm. Southern Quang Tri and eastern Quang Ngai provinces will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-250mm, locally over 450mm. The area from Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70-150mm, locally over 250mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (over 150mm/3 hours).

In addition, in the evening and night of October 28, in the Central Highlands, the South and the East of the provinces from Gia Lai to Lam Dong, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 20-40mm, locally heavy to very heavy rain of over 100mm. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (over 80mm/3 hours).

Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.

Exceptionally large floods on rivers in Hue and Da Nang

Currently, floods on the Huong River, Bo River (Hue), Vu Gia River, Thu Bon River (Da Nang) are fluctuating at high levels; on the Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) are slowly receding.

Water levels at 2:00 p.m. on October 28 on some rivers are as follows: On Bo River (Hue) at Phu Oc station is 4.78m, 0.28m above alarm level 3; on Huong River (Hue) at Kim Long station is 4.68m, 1.18m above alarm level 3; on Vu Gia River (Da Nang) at Ai Nghia station is 9.85m, 0.85m above alarm level 3; on Thu Bon River (Da Nang) at Nong Son station is 16.1m, 1.1m above alarm level 3; at Cau Lau station is 5.25m, 1.25m above alarm level 3; on Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) at Tra Khuc station is 4.09m, 0.59m above alarm level 1.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, floods on rivers in Hue city and Da Nang city will continue to fluctuate at a high level and remain above alert level 3.

Floods on Tra Khuc River (Quang Ngai) are likely to rise to alert level 2 and above alert level 2.

The situation of deep and widespread flooding in Hue city and Da Nang city will continue in the next few days; there is a high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams and landslides on slopes in the provinces from Hue city to Quang Ngai. Flood risk warning level: Level 3.

Specific weather in each region on the night of October 28 and October 29

In the Northwest region, there will be rain in some places at night and sunny during the day. The night and morning will be cold, with some places freezing. The South will have moderate to heavy rain, even very heavy rain in the afternoon and at night. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperatures range from 23–26 degrees Celsius, highest from 28–31 degrees Celsius.

In Hanoi, no rain at night, sunny during the day. Northeast wind level 2-3, cold at night and early morning. Lowest temperature from 22-24 degrees Celsius, highest from 28-30 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City has rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain, rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature from 23-25 degrees Celsius, highest from 28-30 degrees Celsius.
