Leaders from both sides signed a memorandum of understanding following the talks.

During the talks, both sides reviewed the results of coordinated border management and protection efforts from September 2024 to the present. Accordingly, the two sides have coordinated in disseminating information to people in border areas about the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring that people understand border and border gate laws, and strictly implementing the two legal documents of 2016 issued by the two governments along the Vietnam-Laos land border.

The Border Guard Command of Hue City, Quang Tri Province, and the Military Command of Salavan Province have implemented border management and protection activities in accordance with the Agreement on Border Management and Land Border Crossings between Vietnam and Laos. From September 2025 to the present, both sides have directed the organization of bilateral patrols at the provincial level (1 patrol with 24 officers and soldiers) and at the border guard post/company level (Laos) (33 patrols with 783 officers and soldiers). Through these patrols and inspections, no violations of border regulations have been detected, and the security of the national border markers and border demarcation lines of each side has been ensured.

Directing units to effectively implement regulations and rules on twinning between Border Guard Posts under the Border Guard Command of the two provinces/cities: Hue and Quang Tri , and Border Guard Companies 511 and 514 under the Salavan Provincial Military Command (including the Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Post, Hue City Border Guard Command, which established a twinning relationship with Border Guard Company 514 on August 26, 2025). At the same time, both sides will advise local Party committees and authorities at all levels to maintain and effectively implement the model of twinning between border communities, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Effectively implement the contents of the border defense cooperation agreement signed between the Border Guard Command of Vietnam and the Border Guard Department (now the Border Guard Command of Laos); organize talks, meetings, visits, and mutual greetings on holidays and Tet; regularly exchange information on the situation and share experiences in border management and protection.

On the occasion of holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), and the anniversary of the Border Guard Force's establishment, the Border Guard Command of Hue and Quang Tri provinces and other units presented gifts to border guards and people in the opposite region, and also advised local authorities to present gifts to the neighboring country, totaling approximately 1.2 billion VND.

During the talks, the two sides agreed on the direction of future coordination, focusing on key areas: maintaining coordinated bilateral patrols and clearing of border visibility corridors to preserve the integrity of the border line and boundary markers; and advising relevant authorities on policies and solutions to facilitate cross-border traffic for people in border areas.
