The rapid response teams of Hue Power Company inspect power lines and substations in critical areas.

As of late morning on October 28th, most areas in the city were without electricity, except for some higher areas that had not yet been flooded. Many places experienced a 100% power outage, such as Kim Tra ward. This was due to Hue Power Company (PC Hue) proactively cutting off electricity temporarily to prevent electrical accidents during the floods.

“Power outages will affect people's lives, however, prevention to ensure people's safety is paramount, so the company has directed its subordinate power management teams to inspect and disconnect the load (proactively stop power supply) in deeply flooded areas, ensuring absolute safety for people's lives,” said Mr. Nguyen Dai Phuc – Director of PC Hue.

According to Mr. Phuc, it is difficult to give a specific timeframe for restoring electricity, especially in low-lying areas. "In this matter, the power company is almost completely passive because it depends on how quickly the water recedes. The optimal solution at the moment is for the power company to mobilize its forces to inspect and monitor water levels. If they see that the water has receded to a safe level (for electricity), they will quickly restore power to serve the people," the Director of Hue Power Company shared.

Currently, the rapid response teams of Hue Power Company are continuously inspecting power lines and substations in vulnerable areas; clearing vegetation and dealing with fallen trees and submerged power poles.

Regarding electrical safety inspections, on the morning of October 28th, while inspecting the power grid amidst heavy rain and deep floodwaters in the Tran Phu street area (Thuan Hoa Ward), Hue Power Company promptly assisted a female patient traveling from the South bus station to Hue Central Hospital for emergency treatment.

Assisting many women and children to move to safety using specialized vehicles.

Due to many roads in the area being deeply flooded, making it inaccessible to ambulances, power company workers quickly assisted in transporting the patient across the flooded area. They also contacted the Thuan Hoa Police Station to coordinate the safe transportation of the patient to the hospital by boat.

In addition to the above case, during their inspection tour, the Hue City Police force assisted many people in escaping deeply flooded areas and moving to safe locations using specialized vehicles; provided accommodation for many elderly people, women with young children, and students; and coordinated with the government and other functional forces to assist the Thuan Hoa Medical Center in transporting vaccines and medical equipment to higher ground.

"The company's power management team headquarters and guesthouse still have space and full amenities. People can come to charge their phones and stay for free if needed," Mr. Phuc said.
