Effective information bridge in the highlands

The grassroots broadcasting system plays an important role in informing and propagating to the people. Not only is the information fast, timely and easy to transmit, but in hot and urgent times such as natural disasters, storms and floods, public loudspeakers always demonstrate optimal efficiency.

Immediately after receiving information about storm No. 10, the loudspeaker system of 16 villages and hamlets of Ban Ho commune broadcasted announcements about the developments, path and circulation after the storm. In addition to the 2 fixed time frames, 36 loudspeaker clusters in the villages were maintained by the Editorial Board of Ban Ho Commune Radio Station 24/24 continuously broadcasting disaster warnings and instructions on response measures.

Mr. Pham Van Quang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ban Ho commune said: "With the characteristics of a large, isolated area, with scattered residents, in areas with weak phone signals and unstable internet, public loudspeakers have become familiar and necessary in daily life. Thanks to information warnings from the grassroots loudspeaker system, people are no longer subjective about natural disasters and floods."

As one of four households in La Ve village that had to move away from the landslide-prone area, Mr. Lu A Tam shared: “We received information through the commune and village loudspeakers about the danger level of the storm, so when we knew our family was in an area with a high risk of landslides, we moved to a safe place to avoid loss of life and property…”.

Not only broadcasting radio programs, the Department of Culture and Society of Ban Ho commune also proactively builds local news bulletins, transmitting them through the loudspeaker system. Propaganda bulletins about party congresses at all levels, two-level local governments, disease prevention and control work... are transmitted promptly, helping people grasp accurate information.

In Ban Lien commune, propaganda activities via loudspeakers have brought practical results in mass mobilization work. Currently, 22 loudspeaker clusters, including 9 smart loudspeaker clusters in 11 villages are operating regularly, promptly transmitting official information to the people.

Mr. Vang Van Hung - specialist of the Department of Culture - Society of Ban Lien commune said: "In addition to providing information in emergency situations, the loudspeaker system also promptly propagates news and special events such as the recent 1st Congress of the Commune Party Committee. The commune has built a newsletter, propagating the results achieved during the term, the development orientation of the commune or providing full information on the activities of the local Party Committee and government since the merger of the province and the new commune came into operation...".

The whole province currently has 1,650 loudspeaker clusters transmitting and receiving using information technology. From the effectiveness of the loudspeaker system, communes in the province continue to invest and upgrade the receiving and broadcasting system; improve professional qualifications, skills, management knowledge, and equipment operation for cadres and grassroots radio stations, promptly conveying to the people the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and many other useful information.
