When trust starts with QR codes

Despite many difficulties, Nguyen Canh Duy's dung tea production facility in Canh Vinh commune is still persistently building a reputation for its product line from local medicinal plants.

Nearly 100 tons of dung tea are brought to the market and widely accepted by customers every year as proof. And what makes Mr. Duy truly satisfied is not only the output and profit but also the clear change in product quality and value thanks to the application of traceability (TXNG).

Mr. Duy shared: “The TXNG system is a passport for the product. Thanks to it, customers not only know the taste of Dung tea, but also understand the production process and safety standards that we adhere to.

Since the Department of Science and Technology supported the establishment of basic standards, product labels, sample analysis and the application of TXNG using QR codes, the facility's products have changed in both appearance and trust from the market. We clearly see the effectiveness when orders increase and the connection with partners becomes stronger."

With the support of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality (Department of Science and Technology), Mr. Duy's facility has just been trained in applying quality standards, and has been guided in building a TXNG system with integrated software to update data, activate and print 2,000 QR codes for product batches. This is one of many typical models in the province that has been deployed, bringing about clear results.

From 2020 to present, the Department of Science and Technology has supported 8 local production facilities to build basic standards, product labels and apply TXNG to product lines such as: Mango, grapefruit, rice, dry rice vermicelli, chicken eggs, vegetable noodle soup...

Along with that, 36 organizations, enterprises and cooperatives in the province were also guided to apply the TXNG software developed by the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality in coordination with the National Code and Barcode Center and directly connected to the National Product TXNG Information Portal.

One of the typical enterprises is Green Farm Trading Service Company Limited (An Nhon Tay commune), which annually supplies the market with 28 million VietGAP chicken eggs, 145 tons of chicken meat and 1,200 tons of dry chicken manure. After applying the TXNG system in 2024, this enterprise has gradually controlled the quality of input and output better, while creating greater trust with consumers.

In Tuy Phuoc Bac commune, Phuoc Hung Agricultural Cooperative, a pioneer in producing BC15 rice varieties, also implemented TXNG at the end of 2024. Clear and transparent labels have helped the cooperative's rice products easily access large markets, preparing to expand traceability with high-quality rice varieties ST24, ST25 and connecting to the national information portal.

Towards transparent and sustainable agriculture

Mr. Phan Ngoc Anh - Head of the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality (Department of Science and Technology) - affirmed that TXNG is not only a trend, but also one of the key tasks in the province's sustainable agricultural development strategy.

The Department is continuing to implement key contents according to Decision No. 100/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on applying and managing the TXNG system. In addition to supporting enterprises in deploying technology, the Department also coordinates in reviewing legal documents, promoting awareness of TXNG, training human resources and strengthening supervision to ensure proper implementation, bringing about real results.

Not standing aside, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment has also actively participated in standardizing products for traceability. From 2021 to now, this unit has selected and confirmed the safety chain for 58 products at 36 production facilities, and supported the conversion of nearly 287 hectares of cultivated land to VietGAP standards and 136 hectares to organic certification.

In addition, 50 livestock farms in the eastern region of the province are also applying high-tech, closed models, ensuring safe products according to VietGAP standards, aiming for organic agriculture.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade has also accompanied 20 enterprises in implementing QR Code to trace product origin. This is an important step to enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Along with that, the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2024-2025 period is an opportunity for Gia Lai to continue promoting TXNG. The Provincial Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances has guided 44 supply chains of key agricultural products such as coffee, durian, cashew nuts, passion fruit, etc. to build a clear, transparent and authentic TXNG system.

The cooperation between management agencies, enterprises and farmers has created an increasingly complete TXNG ecosystem in Gia Lai. This is not only an effective management tool, but also a way for local agricultural products to prove their quality and origin, opening the door to demanding domestic and foreign markets.

Mr. Truong Quang Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology - affirmed: "With a clear roadmap and a methodical approach, TXNG not only helps improve competitiveness, but also contributes to sustainable socio-economic development. From small QR codes, a big journey is being opened for Gia Lai agricultural products".
