Together to protect the livestock environment in Nghia Loc - Nghe An
According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, the serious environmental pollution caused by pig farming activities in Nghia Loc commune has existed for a long time, causing many difficulties for residents in the area.
Nghia Loc Commune, Nghe An Province, was established from the merger of the former Nghia Long and Nghia Loc communes. Despite the transition to a two-tier government model, environmental pollution from pig farming is still a serious problem, and part of the cause can be traced to past irresponsibility.
Many farms and households have been publicly criticized by the people. Among them, a large-scale pig farm in the upstream area of Khe Sai 2 hamlet, owned by Mr. Vu Dinh Huan, a resident of Dap Danh hamlet, has become the focus of anger.
Residents here claim that their daily lives and activities have been disrupted since the farm was built. They have to live in anxiety and insecurity, not only during the day but also at night.
"We know that Mr. Huan is only the owner on paper, in reality this farm has changed owners many times. Whoever manages it must comply with the law and cannot ignore the rights of the people for economic gain. The pollution has lasted for many years, we have sent many petitions but have not seen any drastic measures to deal with it. As long as this farm is still operating, people will have to endure it. Who can stand such a strong stench, not to mention the wastewater overflowing, accumulating and seeping into the soil and water sources, posing a danger to health," said Ms. LTP, a resident of Khe Sai 2 hamlet.
Regarding this issue, on March 1, 2017, Nghia Dan District People's Committee issued Construction Permit No. 15/GPXD-UBND to Mr. Vu Dinh Huan, allowing the construction of a pig farm in Khe Sai 2 hamlet, Nghia Loc commune with an area of over 13,871 m², including two pig barns.
