ĐNO - Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain combined with rising river water in recent days, on the morning of October 29, in the An Luong fishing wharf embankment area (Duy Nghia commune), south of Cua Dai Bridge, many serious landslides appeared, posing a risk to the safety of riverside traffic and nearby households.

At 6:30 a.m. on October 29, people discovered that a section of concrete road and the embankment foundation had collapsed into the river. Then, strong waves washed away the foundation, causing large sections to collapse, washing away rocks and soil, and damaging a 20-meter section of the traffic infrastructure, and a 3.5-meter wide road surface.

Faced with that situation, Duy Nghia commune authorities mobilized combat forces of Division 315, police, militia and local people to urgently gather vehicles, materials, pack sandbags, build embankments, and temporarily reinforce landslide sites to limit the spread of damage.

Currently, in the middle of the embankment, right at the intersection of An Luong wharf seafood market (Duy Nghia commune), there is a serious landslide section of more than 20m long, the soil, rocks, and concrete embankment are sinking very quickly, posing a risk to the safety of the riverside traffic route and nearby households.

Nguyen Van Hoa, Secretary of the Duy Nghia Commune Party Committee, said the river embankment is located in an important position, protecting the residential area and the local seafood purchasing center. If the subsidence leads to serious landslides, the locality will suffer many economic and infrastructure losses.

“The locality is mobilizing more units, functional forces, vehicles and materials to reinforce vulnerable points, ensuring safety for people and this important riverside project,” said Mr. Hoa.
