Vietnam futsal team is in the second seed group at the Asian tournament.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will feature 16 teams, including eight group winners and seven best runners-up from the qualifying round, plus hosts Indonesia, who will qualify directly for the Finals.

Based on the futsal rankings announced by FIFA on August 29, 2025, 16 teams were divided into four seed groups for the draw. The Vietnamese futsal team (ranked 26th in the world ) is in seed group number 2, along with Uzbekistan (19), Afghanistan (33) and Iraq (41).

The seed groups for the specific draw are as follows :

Group 1: Indonesia (23, host), Iran (5), Thailand (11), Japan (13)

Group 2: Uzbekistan (19), Vietnam (26), Afghanistan (33), Iraq (41)

Group 3: Kuwait (43), Tajikistan (46), Saudi Arabia (48), Kyrgyzstan (49)

Group 4: Australia (53), Lebanon (54), South Korea (73), Malaysia (81)

According to the competition format, 16 teams will be divided into four groups, playing a round robin to calculate ranking points. The top two teams in each group will advance. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will be held in a knockout format to determine the 2026 Asian futsal champion.

The best achievement of the Vietnamese futsal team in the continental arena was reaching the semi-finals in 2016, thereby for the first time in history, winning the right to participate in the FIFA Futsal World Cup. With impressive performance in the recent qualifying round, coach Diego Giustozzi and his team continue to receive high expectations from fans for their journey in the upcoming continental arena.

The draw ceremony will take place at the MNC Conference Hall, starting at 15:00 GMT+8 (14:00 Vietnam time).
