On October 19, the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee held a draw to divide the men's and women's Futsal groups for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

In the men's Futsal event, since there were only 5 participating teams including Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar, the Organizing Committee decided to play a round robin to determine the final ranking.

At the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship, the Vietnamese Futsal team received a big reward.
Historically, the Vietnamese men’s Futsal team has never won a SEA Games gold medal. This year, coach Diego Giustozzi and his team aim to improve on their performance after the bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games.
To achieve the goal, the Vietnamese men's Futsal team needs to be well prepared as host Thailand and Indonesia are highly rated.
The men's Futsal event will take place from December 13 to 19 at Nonthaburi Gymnasium or Rajamangala University of Technology's Thanyaburi (Pathum Thani) Gymnasium.

In women's Futsal, the Vietnamese women's team is in Group B with Myanmar and Indonesia, while Group A includes Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
This is considered a balanced group as Myanmar and Indonesia are both rapidly improving opponents, having caused many difficulties for Vietnam in recent SEA Games.
The women's Futsal event will be held from December 12 to 18 at the Nonthaburi Gymnasium or the Rajamangala University of Technology's Thanyaburi campus Gymnasium.
It is expected that the Vietnamese men's and women's Futsal teams will also gather at the end of October, aiming to achieve the best results at this SEA Games.
