Pilot ban on heavy trucks and large passenger buses from lane 1 of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway

Previously, the Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Construction ) issued a decision approving adjustments and supplements to the pilot traffic organization plan for lane division and speed regulations on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway.

According to the decision, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway consists of 4 lanes and 2 emergency lanes (each direction has 2 lanes, 1 emergency lane). Of which, lane 1 (close to the median strip) prohibits trucks with a total weight of over 7.5 tons and passenger cars with over 29 seats from circulating. Vehicles allowed to use lane 1 must comply with the maximum speed of 100 km/h and the minimum speed of 80 km/h (increased from 60 to 80 km/h).

Lane 2 (near the emergency lane) allows all types of vehicles to travel on the highway, with a maximum speed of 100 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h. Vehicles in lane 2 are allowed to move to lane 1 to pass, then return to lane 2 to continue moving, but must ensure a safe distance.

This pilot traffic organization plan will be applied for 1 month from October 27 to evaluate the effectiveness before official implementation. Accordingly, 10 days before the end of the pilot period, Road Management Area IV must complete and propose a suitable alternative traffic organization plan.

The Department of Roads assigned Road Management Area IV to inspect and supervise the proper implementation of the plan, and promptly make adjustments if necessary to ensure traffic order and safety on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway.

In reality, from September 22 to now, Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 7 - Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) has deployed solutions to propagate information on new lane separation instructions on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway such as: continuously broadcasting on mobile loudspeakers on the route, propagating at toll stations, posting on Facebook and displaying on electronic information boards along the route...

According to Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 7, the authorities are urgently installing traffic signs (according to the new lane division plan) to make it more convenient for road users. It is expected that the installation of signs will be completed today, and the unit will pilot the new lane division plan and speed regulations.
