Digital transformation in the livestock sector: Improving efficiency, minimizing risks and enhancing competitiveness
According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, the livestock industry in Hue City is applying digital technology solutions to improve productivity, effectively control diseases, reduce production costs and move towards sustainable development in the industry.
Currently, Hue City has a total of 406 livestock farms, including 8 large farms specializing in pigs and chickens, 81 medium-sized farms and 317 small farms. Notably, more than 30 livestock farms have applied high technology, many of which cooperate with businesses to build a chain of links, contributing to increasing product value and business efficiency.
In order to develop sustainable livestock farming, a number of large-scale farms in Hue City have proactively applied digital solutions in the production process.
A typical example is the Hoang Bang integrated farm (Phong Thai ward, Hue city) with an area of about 20 hectares, currently operating with more than 7,000 suckling pigs and 12,600 pigs per litter (an average of 2.2 litters per year). Thanks to support from the government and the determination to innovate, the farm has actively applied digital technology to the farming process, helping to increase productivity, improve product quality and minimize environmental impact.
Mr. Nguyen Cuu Cong Thanh, farm manager, shared that the farm currently uses an automatic environmental control system in the barn, applying IoT sensors to control temperature, humidity, air flow and light. Thanks to that, the living conditions of the pigs have been significantly improved, reducing the risk of disease and saving significantly on labor costs.
