Promote sustainable livestock farming, ensure disease safety and environmental protection
According to the Agriculture and Environment Newspaper, Da Nang City is encouraging people to expand their livestock farming scale according to the concentrated farm model, applying biosafety measures to control diseases and minimize negative impacts on the environment.
In Tay Ho commune, Tan Phu village, Da Nang city, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung is a typical example of applying a modern livestock model. His farm currently raises more than 350 pigs in a barn system designed to be completely isolated from residential areas and neighboring livestock areas. This area is regularly cleaned and disinfected twice a day with specialized solutions. All people and vehicles entering and leaving the farm must comply with strict disinfection procedures.
Mr. Hung's barn is built in a closed model, integrating a ventilation system, air conditioning and heating equipment, ensuring the farming environment is always clean, airy and maintains a suitable temperature, minimizing the risk of disease spread.
During the care process, Mr. Hung uses protective gear and specialized shoes to prevent pathogens from entering. Food, water and farming tools are all carefully checked, only using supplies that meet safety standards, completely eliminating the use of untreated food or leftovers.
Thanks to the application of scientific and strict processes, Mr. Hung's pig herd has grown healthily, unaffected by epidemics, including African swine fever. Mr. Hung said: "During the complicated epidemic period, I still maintained a stable pig herd, sold more than 250 pigs for meat and am currently raising 300 commercial pigs and 35 sows to prepare for the market demand during the upcoming Tet holiday."
