With the motto "ensuring people's safety is paramount", Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen has directed units and localities to urgently deploy remedial measures and closely monitor 24/7 to protect people's lives and property.

The K'No 5 resettlement and settlement project has a total area of 15,433 hectares, with a population of 400-600 people, with a total investment of more than 35.7 billion VND, divided into two phases (phase 1: 2017-2019; phase 2: 2019-2020). Phase 1 has been completed, arranging resettlement for 73/87 households. The project aims to relocate people from high-risk areas of natural disasters to safe places to live. Phase 2, approved by the Provincial People's Committee under Decision 1061/QD-UBND dated May 30, 2023, is implementing the items of leveling, traffic, drainage and electricity - water supply.
However, since July 2025, the impact of storms and prolonged heavy rains has caused serious subsidence and landslides in this area.

According to the Lac Duong Area Construction Investment Project Management Board (under the Lam Dong Province Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 - Project Investor), the slope behind the residential area collapsed with a total length of about 80m, the volume of soil slid nearly 200m³, directly affecting 5 households and causing signs of slight subsidence for 4 other households. In total, 15 households were affected by this incident.
At the scene, comrade Le Trong Yen said, through reports and actual inspections, the project area mainly uses embankment, weak ground, leading to a high risk of landslides, especially in heavy rain conditions. The main cause was determined to be that many houses were built on high embankment, lacking a reasonable drainage system. When heavy rains lasted for a long time, water from the roofs poured down to the foot of the slope, making the soil soft, causing rapid landslides.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the priority task is to ensure the safety of households. He requested local authorities to arrange forces on duty, regularly inspect and assess the situation and be ready to evacuate households from dangerous areas if necessary. Specifically: Departments, branches and localities urgently clarify the causes, assess in detail the level of seepage and landslides, propose appropriate technical solutions to thoroughly overcome them; Closely monitor 24/7, arrange forces on duty, regularly update developments to proactively handle emergency situations; Prioritize the implementation of a reasonable drainage system, reinforce slopes to prevent recurrence of incidents; Review the entire phase 2 project, assess the risk of landslides before the prolonged rainy and stormy season.
Regarding long-term solutions, comrade Le Trong Yen emphasized: “Due to the complexity of the terrain and the serious consequences of landslides, it is necessary to focus on technical factors. Exploratory drilling and consultation with experts are needed to find sustainable solutions. Even if it is costly, it must be done because people's lives are paramount.” He assigned the Department of Construction to preside over the meeting, invite relevant parties to discuss and carefully evaluate technical solutions and request the Lac Duong Area Investment and Construction Project Management Board to report on the overall project, evaluate the effectiveness to propose solutions, and ensure the sustainability of the project.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested the Department of Construction and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate to report the results of the quick remediation this week, and at the same time propose necessary solutions to ensure long-term safety.
