Imprint of Vietnam-France solidarity and friendship in the program to celebrate National Day September 2

On the evening of September 12, in Paris, the Vietnamese Embassy in France held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 with the art program “Radiant Vietnam”. The event not only honored Vietnam’s great celebration, but also honored the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and France.

Attending the 80th anniversary celebration of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in France, were: Ms. Anne-Marie Descôtes, Secretary General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs ; Ms. Julie Le Saos, Asian Advisor to the President of France; Anoa Suzanne Dussol Perran, Vietnam's Tourism Ambassador to France; representatives of international organizations, diplomatic missions, friendship and cooperation associations with Vietnam, and generations of Vietnamese expatriates in France.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang emphasized that September 2, 1945, is a historical milestone marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. This event has symbolic significance for a new era of freedom and independence under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang also reviewed Vietnam's eight decades of challenges and glory. Emerging from war and hardship, Vietnam has today become a dynamic nation deeply integrated into the international community. By 2045, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, Vietnam strives to become a developed, powerful, prosperous, and happy country.

With a GDP of nearly US$500 billion, Vietnam ranks 40th among the world's largest economies and is one of the top 20 global exporters. Vietnam currently partners with 194 countries, has 34 strategic partnerships, and is an active member of over 70 international and regional organizations. Vietnam also plays a constructive role in many global issues such as peacekeeping , collective security, humanitarian assistance, ecological transition, and resilience to global crises.

Regarding bilateral relations, the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to France in October 2024. Recent high-level visits by President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam in May 2025 and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to France in June 2025 further strengthened agreements and strategic directions in the fields of economics, environment, culture, innovation, and education.

On this occasion, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang highly appreciated the valuable contributions of the Vietnamese community in France to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation and to strengthening relations between the two countries as well as with international friends. Over the past time, the overseas Vietnamese community has also clearly demonstrated dynamism, solidarity, and deep attachment to their homeland, striving to preserve and promote their national identity, language, and cultural values.

Congratulating Vietnam on its National Day, Anne-Marie Descôtes, Secretary-General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the period 2024-2025 is a special milestone with high-level visits between the two countries. In particular, France is proud to be the only country in the European Union to elevate its relationship with Vietnam to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Anne-Marie Descôtes further affirmed that France wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in strategic areas such as transportation, healthcare, energy, and space.

France is ready to welcome Vietnam's participation in environmental and climate issues, especially following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans in Nice. France also committed to contributing 500 million euros to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) program in Vietnam.

The performances in the art program "Radiant Vietnam," organized by the Vietnam Cultural Center, brought a solemn and warm atmosphere to the ceremony, expressing national pride and international friendship.

The choir performed the song "Vietnam, My Homeland," the children's choir sang "Hello Vietnam," the folk dance "The Country's Lullaby," the group singing "Continuing the Story of Peace," and the instrumental ensemble of Vietnamese traditional instruments set to the French music "Le temps des fleurs" (The Time of the Fleurs)... all left a lasting impression on the guests.

The commemorative program marks a momentous historical event for Vietnam, while also contributing to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.
