This event has symbolic significance for a new era of freedom and independence under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh. Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang also reviewed Vietnam's 8-decade journey full of challenges and glory. Emerging from the war with many hardships, Vietnam today has risen to become a dynamic and deeply internationally integrated country. By 2045, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding, Vietnam strives to become a developed, powerful, prosperous and happy country. With a GDP of nearly 500 billion USD, Vietnam ranks 40th in the world's largest economies and is one of the top 20 global exporters. Vietnam is currently a partner of 194 countries, has 34 strategic partnerships and is an active member of more than 70 international and regional organizations. Vietnam also plays a constructive role in many global issues such as peacekeeping , collective security, humanitarian assistance, ecological transition and resilience to global crises.
Regarding bilateral relations, the two countries upgraded their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the official visit to France by General Secretary and President To Lam in October 2024. The recent high-level visits by President Emmanuel Macron to Vietnam in May 2025 and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to France in June 2025 have further consolidated agreements and strategic orientations in the fields of economy, environment, culture, innovation and education. On this occasion, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang highly appreciated the valuable contributions of the Vietnamese community in France to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation and to strengthening relations between the two countries as well as with international friends. Over the past time, overseas Vietnamese have also clearly demonstrated their dynamism, solidarity and deep attachment to their homeland, making efforts to preserve and promote the national identity, language and cultural values. Congratulating Vietnam on National Day, Ms. Anne-Marie Descôtes, Secretary General of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the 2024-2025 period is a special milestone with high-level visits between the two countries. In particular, France is proud to be the only country in the European Union to elevate its relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam. Ms. Anne-Marie Descôtes also affirmed: France wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in strategic areas such as: transportation, health, energy, and space.
France is ready to welcome Vietnam's participation in environmental and climate issues, especially after Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Ocean in Nice. France also pledged to contribute 500 million euros to the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Vietnam. The performances in the art program “Radiant Vietnam”, hosted by the Vietnam Cultural Center, brought a solemn and warm atmosphere to the ceremony, expressing national pride and international friendship. The choir performed the song “My Homeland Vietnam”, the children’s choir sang “Hello Vietnam”, the folk dance “Lullaby of the Country”, the choir sang “Continuing the Story of Peace” or the Vietnamese traditional musical instrument ensemble performed on the French music “Le temps des fleurs” (tentatively translated as “The Season of Flowers Blooming”)… leaving many emotions in the hearts of the guests.
The commemorative program marks a major historical event for Vietnam, while contributing to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France.
