According to experts, smart manufacturing is becoming a strong development trend, especially when the world enters the era of the 4th industrial revolution. Smart manufacturing also represents a digital transformation process of businesses, to become digital businesses or businesses created to a new level thanks to digital transformation.

Digital transformation will change business models, the way businesses operate, and even change the way of thinking, skills, and workforce. By applying modern technologies, businesses can improve their competitiveness, create good products, save costs, have high productivity, and keep up with the times.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology , the biggest benefit for businesses when transforming digitally is to monitor the production and operation process using data through IoT devices; optimize the production process based on data and analysis; at the same time, when applying artificial intelligence (AI), it allows forecasting and predicting the operation and maintenance of the production line.

At the workshop, many delegates shared some information and experiences in implementing digital transformation in their units. Mr. Nguyen Doan Ket, Deputy General Director of Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, said that after 5 years (2019-2024) of implementing digital transformation, the company has achieved a new growth level, from an increase of 8-10%/year to 20%/year.

Entering a new era, Rang Dong has established a new, advanced, modern, digital and green production method with the goal of becoming a high-tech enterprise, a regional and international brand by 2030; top 120 Vietnamese enterprises with revenue of billions of USD, profit of over 100 million USD.

Fully aware of the role of technology, Ms. Tran Thanh Viet, founder and CEO of VGreen Group Joint Stock Company, a science and technology enterprise, shared, “We have invested heavily in modern technological solutions to optimize the production process, preserve live probiotics, maintain biological activity and increase the value of agricultural products. In particular, thanks to the application of digital transformation and automation in production management, it has helped businesses improve quality, control food safety and meet international standards.”

At the same time, the company has registered trademarks, utility solutions, and geographical indications to protect intellectual property and consumer rights. With that investment, VGreen products are present in most major supermarket chains nationwide and have reached international markets such as Japan, Korea, Germany, Singapore, etc. "Technology is the key to helping us realize our vision, bringing Vietnamese natural foods to the world," Ms. Tran Thanh Viet emphasized.

According to Ms. Tran Thanh Viet, digital transformation and smart manufacturing are not only applied in industry or logistics, but also in processing and preserving agricultural products, the role of technology becomes even more crucial. Technology not only helps improve quality but also optimizes preservation and increases the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

Also at the workshop, experts said that, with the rapid development of technology, if businesses do not have investment and technology innovation policies, they may be eliminated in the global playground. Therefore, Vietnamese businesses must quickly innovate technology to improve competitiveness.
