Impressive record of the largest fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam

With a diameter of 68.2cm, a circumference of 215cm, and a height of 39cm, on August 20, chefs from Dong Nai province successfully set a record for the largest puffed fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam, breaking the previous record for puffed fried sticky rice recorded in 2009 with a diameter of 59.5cm, a circumference of 187cm, and a height of 41.5cm.

Determined to honor hometown specialties

With the goal of creating uniqueness and difference at a time when the country is looking forward to important events such as: Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2; welcoming Party congresses at all levels, towards the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term and the 14th National Party Congress, chefs of Dong Nai province have strived to create unique values ​​to promote the cuisine , culture and people of Dong Nai.

Sharing about the efforts to create a new record, Chairman of the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association Nguyen Van Thinh said: As soon as the provincial leaders directed, the chefs researched together, bought tools and started practicing. To have a record-breaking sticky rice cake, the chefs had to go through a lot of stress, from combining ingredients to preparing and practicing frying sticky rice.

“Fried sticky rice with cashews is a specialty that chefs are always proud of and confident in when performing at events. However, when making fried sticky rice with cashews, it is necessary to calculate very carefully, because when adding cashew powder, the ingredients of the sticky rice change, the steps in the frying process must be different, because cashews do not have the same stickiness as sticky rice and are very easy to change color, and can easily burn if overcooked. We are very happy and proud because our efforts, determination, and desire to honor our hometown specialty have been duly rewarded.”

Commenting on the record of the largest fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam that Dong Nai province's chefs have just achieved, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Records Institute, General Secretary of the Vietnam Records Organization Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc said: The special point of this record is not only the impressive size, but also the unique blend between the quintessence of Dong Nai's traditional cuisine and the famous specialty ingredient - Binh Phuoc cashew nuts. This combination not only creates an attractive dish in terms of form and flavor, but also symbolizes the connection, cultural exchange, and spirit of unanimous development of a new Dong Nai.

“We also appreciate the meaningful idea, the elaborate preparation of the Organizing Committee, along with the efforts, talent and ingenuity of the team of chefs, artisans and culinary experts who have contributed to the success of the record of the largest fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam” - Ms. Quynh Ngoc shared.

Continue to promote Dong Nai culinary values

Over the years, the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association has made many contributions to developing and promoting the unique culinary values ​​of the locality. With the attention and support of provincial leaders, the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association has achieved impressive achievements such as: Promoting the largest rice cake in Vietnam, the largest grapefruit salad in Vietnam; dishes such as vermicelli with catfish and bamboo shoots, and thut (thuc) soup of the Stieng and M'nong people... in the list of 121 delicious Vietnamese dishes. In particular, the fried sticky rice dish has become a source of inspiration for chefs to carry out the event of the most fried sticky rice in Vietnam. In addition, Dong Nai's fried sticky rice dish has also been honored by the Asian Record Organization with the Asian Delicious Dish record and now the record of the largest fried sticky rice with cashew nuts in Vietnam.

Sharing about the contributions of the Dong Nai Province Chefs Association in recent times, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan acknowledged the creativity and constant learning of the chefs to bring traditional dishes to a new level, while introducing the typical flavors of the homeland to domestic and foreign friends. Dong Nai cuisine is becoming a unique cultural feature, one of the products to attract tourists, contributing significantly to the development of tourism in the province.
