Promoting the physical exercise movement among the people.

In recent years, the exercise movement in Thai Nguyen has been spreading widely among the people. The fact that each citizen chooses at least one suitable sport to practice regularly is seen as a health message for society. This message encourages all citizens to actively train and improve their physical fitness through activities such as walking, running, jumping, yoga, swimming, martial arts, and ball sports… to build endurance and flexibility for work and study.

Regular daily exercise has become a health tonic. Some people no longer need wheelchairs thanks to exercise; others, after suffering a stroke and walking with a limp, have regained the strength of their legs through persistent exercise.

For many, exercise is about having a fit body, but for others, it's a journey to rediscover balance between body and mind. Many view exercise as a proactive way to care for their health, improve their physical fitness, and enhance their mental well-being.

Therefore, the movement for physical exercise in the province is increasingly spreading widely and deeply among the people, with diverse forms suitable for each age group and individual preference.

Older people often choose gentle activities such as walking, qigong, yoga, and meridian exercises. Younger people, on the other hand, choose activities like martial arts, bodybuilding, ball sports, and cycling, gradually forming groups and clubs to exercise according to their interests.

To date, the province has more than 2,000 sports clubs, with over 100,000 people participating in regular training. These clubs and training groups are like small families, fostering camaraderie and sharing effective training experiences.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy, a member of the Quyet Thang Ward Tai Chi Club, shared: "Thanks to daily exercise, I have good physical and mental health. At over 80 years old, I've participated in Tai Chi for more than 20 years. Initially, it was out of curiosity, just to have company, but gradually it became a habit, and I practice every day."

The graceful, sometimes dance-like, sometimes martial arts-like movements of the health-promoting exercises are captivating and attract thousands of people to participate regularly. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuoi from Song Cong ward said: "It's become a habit; if I don't practice, I feel restless and uncomfortable."

Mr. Ta Dinh Chien, Deputy Head of the Sports Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism ), said: Currently, throughout the province, the percentage of people participating in regular exercise reaches 33.2%; the number of households maintaining physical exercise activities reaches 25.8%.

To achieve these results, the Department proactively advises the Provincial People's Committee annually to issue many appropriate mechanisms and policies to encourage the development of the physical exercise movement among the people. In particular, the staff involved in grassroots physical education and sports activities receive annual training to improve their professional skills and expertise in establishing and maintaining grassroots sports clubs and groups.

To date, the province has nearly 2,000 sports instructors; nearly 1,500 playgrounds and training grounds; and nearly 200 stadiums meeting the standards for grassroots-level competitions. In particular, the communes and wards of the province have proactively and flexibly implemented many social mobilization solutions, attracting resources from the community.

Many businesses and individuals actively sponsor funding and equipment for annual grassroots sports events. Citizens also proactively contribute to building sports fields and creating shared spaces. As a result, the quality and development of the physical exercise movement among the people have improved.
