The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province , Doan Anh Dung, recently held a working session with key leaders of Phan Thiet city regarding the city's socio -economic development tasks for the first six months of 2024.
Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, said that despite many difficulties, the results achieved by Phan Thiet City in the first six months of the year were quite impressive.
Accordingly, the city's tourism activities were outstanding, with an estimated 3.4 million visitors, a 48% increase compared to the same period last year, including a 1.5-fold increase in international visitors, and estimated revenue reaching 7,900 billion VND, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, Doan Anh Dung, chaired a meeting with provincial agencies and Phan Thiet city on the afternoon of July 2nd.
Meanwhile, budget revenue reached over 69% of the annual plan. Several key projects of the city, such as the Ca Ty River embankment (up to Tran Hung Dao Bridge), have completed 90% of their work; the Ca Ty River apartment complex, Van Thanh Bridge, and the handover of land for the Phan Thiet airport project are on schedule.
The city is actively carrying out land clearance for the Funeral Home project, the Ca Ty apartment building, and the residential area south of Le Duan Street.
In particular, the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City is promoting the application of information technology in resolving administrative procedures for citizens and businesses through the IOC smart center application.
The city directed the implementation of urban beautification projects in a coordinated manner, creating a clean, attractive, and modern urban landscape.
Notably, according to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, the city's People's Committee is currently submitting investment proposals for two new commercial and service urban areas in Ham Tien (234 hectares) and Mui Ne (160 hectares), located on land along Vo Nguyen Giap road. However, the leaders of the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City acknowledge that the city's economic development is still slow and not commensurate with its potential advantages.
Mr. Doan Anh Dung believes that Phan Thiet City must leverage its advantages to develop to its full potential as the economic and cultural center of Binh Thuan province.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province, Doan Anh Dung, stated that Phan Thiet City is the tourism, economic, and cultural center of the province. "The changes and development of the city will be a driving force reflecting the overall development of the province. Therefore, Phan Thiet City must make good use of its strengths and potential; have appropriate solutions, clearly assign responsibilities to specific individuals, and closely adhere to the resolutions of the Provincial Party Committee and the resolutions of the City Party Congress," Mr. Dung emphasized.
According to Mr. Doan Anh Dung, except for the tourism sector, other aspects of Phan Thiet City are developing slowly and not commensurately, such as trade and services, agriculture, and industry, which have not yet achieved breakthroughs. Compensation and land clearance for some key projects are still slow; state management in the field of land, and the situation of land encroachment and re-encroachment, sometimes remains complex.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province requested Phan Thiet city to effectively implement Conclusion No. 703 of the Provincial Party Committee on expanding Phan Thiet city and planning several important locations; in particular, the city needs to do a good job of publicizing the plan to gain people's consensus on the reorganization of ward-level administrative units in the coming time.
