Accelerate the construction progress of priority flood-resistant projects in Ky Anh town.

With the rainy and stormy season approaching, Ky Anh town ( Ha Tinh province) is focusing on accelerating the construction progress of projects to ensure safety and quality, especially for important items that are easily affected by natural disasters.

These days, the consortium of contractors, including Vietnam Agricultural Construction Corporation - JSC, Construction Company No. 5 JSC, and Tu Lap Construction Company Limited, is mobilizing maximum manpower and machinery to accelerate the construction progress of package KA-PW-07 (wastewater collection system) under the Integrated Development of Dynamic Urban Areas Project - Ky Anh Urban Sub-project.

Contractors are mobilizing manpower and machinery to restore the sidewalk surface after the construction of the waste collection system in Hung Tri ward.

Due to the sensitive nature of the construction projects, which are prone to flooding and disruption to people's lives during heavy rains, a spirit of competitive work and accelerated progress is currently underway throughout Hung Tri, Ky Hoa, Ky Trinh wards, and others.

Urgent efforts are underway to repave the sidewalks to minimize disruption to the lives of residents in Ky Trinh when floods occur.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Thuan, an official from the Ky Anh Town Construction Project Management Board, stated: “The construction of the wastewater collection system, primarily in urban areas with high traffic density, has impacted the environment and construction progress. After 20 months since its commencement, this contract package, valued at 381 billion VND, has completed approximately 60% of its volume and is expected to be finished on schedule (by the end of December 2024). The investor is urging contractors and relevant units to resolve land-related issues and overcome difficulties to accelerate construction progress and ensure the safety and quality of the project. This aims to collect and drain water, mitigate flooding during the upcoming rainy season, even before the project is completed.”

Hung Cuong Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company is drilling bored piles for the construction of Bridge No. 2.

Currently, the construction unit for bridge number 2 under package KA-PW-03 (the central urban connecting road from Km2+00 - Km3+317 of the Integrated Development Project for Dynamic Urban Areas - Ky Anh Urban Sub-project) is focusing its manpower and machinery to accelerate progress. The bridge, with a scale of 3 spans, 24 m wide and 16 m long, spanning the Tri River in Tan Ha residential area, Hung Tri ward, has reached 35% completion.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Tho, the construction commander of Hung Cuong Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company, said: "With the rainy and stormy season approaching, we have mobilized 10 machines of various types and deployed workers to work four shifts continuously to expedite the construction of items susceptible to natural disasters. In particular, we are focusing on completing as soon as possible the 40 concrete bored piles in the middle of the river, constructing the main piers, casting 48 beams, and preparing contingency plans for dealing with natural disasters. Besides accelerating progress, the company also always prioritizes the quality of the construction, carefully inspecting and preserving materials..."

The wastewater treatment plant project, with a construction value exceeding 75 billion VND, commenced a month ago and is currently under urgent construction.

The Integrated Urban Development Project - Ky Anh Urban Sub-project has a total investment of VND 1,239 billion, funded by a World Bank loan, and is being implemented across several wards and communes in Ky Anh town and a part of Ky Chau commune in Ky Anh district. This large-scale project comprises 7 construction packages, commenced in August 2021, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

According to Nguyen Quoc Hiep, Head of the Ky Anh Town Construction Project Management Board: “The construction packages are being carried out simultaneously and urgently, with the cumulative value of work completed to date estimated at approximately 510 billion VND. Many packages have achieved good progress, such as the Thuy Son Lake upgrade and renovation package, which has been completed; the central urban connecting road package from Km0 to Km2, which is 85% complete; and the embankment and road packages on both sides of the Tri River, which are 87% complete… To ensure safety before the rainy season, we are closely coordinating with relevant departments and localities to resolve obstacles, especially regarding land acquisition, and urging and directing contractors to take advantage of favorable weather to accelerate construction progress; focusing on projects and items that are easily affected by weather, minimizing damage and impact caused by storms.”

The central urban connecting road section from Km0-Km2, with an investment of nearly 118 billion VND, is being constructed by a joint venture between Hung Cuong Construction and Trading JSC and Dai Hiep Co., Ltd. and has reached 85% completion.

The Ky Ninh Beach Tourist Square project, with a construction scale of 49,000 ^m² and a total investment of nearly 113 billion VND, is currently in the construction phase of areas vulnerable to storms and high tides. To ensure safety before the rainy season, the two contractors, Truong Thanh Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company and Ha Tinh Construction 68 Joint Stock Company, have focused on overcoming difficulties, mobilizing capital, deploying manpower and machinery to accelerate the progress of land leveling and main items located near the coastline such as embankments, perimeter roads, and drainage ditches. After more than 8 months of construction, the project has reached approximately 50% of the total construction volume, striving to complete and hand over on schedule (August 2024); in the short term, ensuring that the impact of storms and high tides during construction is minimized.

Machinery is leveling the ground for the Ky Ninh beach resort square project.

According to Nguyen Quoc Hiep, Head of the Ky Anh Town Construction Project Management Board, there are currently about 150 construction investment projects, ranging from small to large, under construction in Ky Anh town, with a total value of thousands of billions of VND, including 20 medium and large-scale projects. Because many projects are in the construction phase, are large-scale, and are located in areas frequently affected by storms, high tides, and other natural disasters, ensuring safety is always a top priority for investors.

Accordingly, at this time, all construction projects and units have developed disaster prevention plans, anticipating specific response plans for each possible adverse situation, adhering to the motto "Prevention is key, response must be timely, ensuring the 'four on-site' principle" to ensure safety in construction, achieve quality and aesthetics; and minimize damage (if any) to people and property of the State and the people and businesses.
