- From the beginning of April 2026 until now, units in the four central wards have focused on carrying out technical repairs to the green spaces on many streets. This has contributed to ensuring the safety of residents when the rainy and stormy season arrives.
On Quang Trung street in Luong Van Tri ward, there are nearly 100 large trees, including species such as Bodhi trees, milkwood trees, and Lagerstroemia trees. Since the beginning of April 2026, the Technical Team of the Urban Drainage Branch of Lang Son Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company has proactively pruned trees with wide canopies that are prone to breaking.

Mr. Nong Van Thuong, a member of the tree trimming team under the Urban Drainage Branch, said: "These days, we are working from 6 am to 6 pm every day to focus on handling trees with wide, heavy canopies or those that are rotten. Not only that, we are conducting rotational inspections on the streets to proactively detect trees at risk of breaking or falling. During the work, we also educate the local people about the potential dangers of falling trees and encourage them to report any incidents promptly."
Currently, the Urban Drainage Branch is responsible for managing approximately 10,000 trees along the roads in the four central wards. According to the unit's assessment, in recent years, the weather patterns, including storms and typhoons, have become increasingly complex. Furthermore, the intensity and frequency of major thunderstorms and typhoons have also increased. This makes the technical handling of these trees to ensure safety even more urgent.
Mr. Phan Quoc Manh, Deputy Director of the Urban Drainage Branch, said: To ensure safety, the unit has directed specialized teams to proactively review all trees at risk of falling on the routes, especially key streets such as Quang Trung, Dinh Tien Hoang, Ba Trieu, Hung Vuong...
To date, the unit has pruned approximately 1,000 trees along streets in four central wards. Specifically, since the beginning of April 2026, the unit has handled over 500 trees of various types, thereby contributing to minimizing safety risks during storms and strong winds.
Mr. Vu Minh Cuong, residing on Le Hong Phong Street, Tam Thanh Ward, stated: "Many trees along the street have grown tall and wide, and specialized units have promptly pruned them. This reduces the risk of breakage and collapse, preventing safety hazards for residents, property damage, and traffic disruptions. This gives people more peace of mind as the rainy and stormy season approaches, especially given the current unpredictable weather conditions."
According to the head of the Urban Drainage Branch, in the coming period, the unit will continue to implement solutions to ensure the safety of urban trees based on the plan already developed. Specifically, the unit will focus on key streets with many tall, wide-canopied trees that pose a potential safety risk; this work will be completed by May 2026. At the same time, in the event of thunderstorms, the unit will mobilize maximum resources, ready to perform tasks 24/7 to handle fallen trees, contributing to ensuring safety.
