The topic is good, but full of keyword "traps".
Candidate Nguyen Ngo Bao Tran (a student from Tay Son Secondary School, Hoa Cuong Ward) believes that, at first glance, many students would find this year's exam questions not too difficult. It's difficult, but it's easy to lose points if you don't identify the keywords in the question.
According to Bao Tran, question number 3 in the Reading Comprehension section, regarding "the nuances of meaning of words," is a very easy trap for candidates. Confusing positive, negative, or neutral nuances can lead to regrettable loss of points if not analyzed carefully. Especially in the Social Commentary section on the topic "How can young people confidently assert themselves?", many students focus only on the aspect of self-assertion, forgetting the preceding phrase "confidence," resulting in essays that lack insight and fail to fully address the core requirements.

Sharing the same opinion, Minh Anh, a candidate taking the exam at Tran Phu High School, said that the reading comprehension passage extended to the second page, which could make it difficult for many students who didn't read carefully to answer the questions well. For the essay question analyzing the image of a soldier, with a word limit of about 200 words, candidates only needed to focus on analyzing three to four representative images to ensure a complete and insightful answer. According to Minh Anh, the most difficult aspect of the exam was the need to read the questions very carefully and calmly.
Candidate Bao Han (Nguyen Hue Secondary School) shared: "Because of the psychological pressure of seeing the long exam paper and having to carefully read the text for the Reading Comprehension section, when it came to the Social Commentary question, I didn't have time to create an outline. I wrote whatever came to mind, so I'm afraid my essay won't be logical in its argumentation."
Ensure high differentiation
The Literature exam for the 10th grade entrance exam administered by the Da Nang Department of Education and Training was assessed as appropriate for the age group, meeting the requirements for differentiation without putting excessive pressure on students.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hoa, Head of the Literature Department at Tran Phu High School (Hai Chau Ward, Da Nang City), this is a very "charming" exam from the newly established city of Da Nang, with a diverse range of students from different regions.
This year, the reading comprehension section features a short story, whose content and storytelling style are relatable to students and convey profound and meaningful messages. The reading comprehension questions are excellent, ensuring they utilize general knowledge that students have already learned and can answer, while also including challenging questions that require students to have literary appreciation and a rich vocabulary to respond.

According to teacher Nguyen Dinh Hoa, the essay section only requires analyzing the character of the former soldier, so it's very concise. The paragraph itself describes the soldier with the basic characteristics of the character in the story, and provides vocabulary for students to use in their analysis. However, to achieve a high score on this question, students need to combine analysis of both content and artistic elements with fluent and coherent expression.
The writing section is quite familiar to many students and is also similar to the reading comprehension section. Self-confidence and self-assertion in life are also important issues for children of this age.
Mr. Le Anh Tuan, a Literature teacher at Nguyen Hue Secondary School (Hai Chau district), believes that the exam successfully fulfilled its role in student selection by both showcasing the individual abilities of each student and ensuring high differentiation to select outstanding individuals.
According to teacher Le Anh Tuan, the Reading Comprehension section covers all levels from recognition and understanding to application. In the Writing section, for the question analyzing the image of a former soldier, students need to truly master both paragraph writing skills and character analysis skills to achieve optimal scores.
In particular, regarding the social commentary essay, Mr. Tuan highly appreciated the self-centered topic because it is very relatable and helps students solve problems in a positive way. However, he also pointed out an important detail: students must clearly identify the subject offering solutions to the problem as young people; otherwise, the essay will go off-topic.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Nguyen Ho Thanh Thuy (Tay Son Secondary School) assessed that the exam required meticulousness and a certain level of life experience. Ms. Thuy warned that candidates could easily "lose points" in the Reading Comprehension section if they did not carefully read the text and identify the keywords in the question.
For example, if the question asks students to identify an image that depicts the "impact" of an object, and they simply list its effects, they will not receive the maximum score. Regarding the writing section, Ms. Thuy also reminded candidates to avoid getting bogged down in "self-expression" and forgetting the main point: "self-confidence."
Teacher Nguyen Dinh Hoa predicts that the average score for Literature will be higher than in 2025, with many scores around 7.5 points. Teacher Le Anh Tuan believes that the average score for Literature in this year's university entrance exams will be between 6.5 and 7.5 points.
According to a preliminary report from the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, in the Literature exam session, 42,825 candidates took the exam out of 42,981 registered candidates, a rate of 99.64%; 156 candidates were absent.
The total enrollment quota for public schools is 38,690 students, with 1,215 places available at continuing education centers. With this ratio, it is expected that approximately 91% of candidates will have the opportunity to study at public educational institutions.
