Proposal of the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) on Paint maximum speed limits and traffic signs on the road surface is receiving a lot of support from the people. Many people believe that painting speed signs directly on the road surface will significantly reduce violations due to confusion or not seeing the signs.
Mr. Tran Minh Phuong (a technology driver in Hanoi ) said: “ Driving in the inner city during rush hour is very stressful. Avoiding cars and paying attention to signs is easy to miss. If the speed limit is painted right on the road surface, it will be easier on the eyes, especially for new drivers .”
Similarly, Ms. Trinh Hong Lam (a teacher in Quang Ninh ) said that many national highways and expressways currently have speed limit signs, but they are often placed in difficult-to-see locations.
“ Not everyone can recognize the sign when driving at 80 km/h, especially at the speed change sections. I think, in addition to painting the speed value, it is possible to combine painting a section of the road surface about 5-8 m long with easily distinguishable colors. For example, paint red at the section where deceleration is required and blue at the section where acceleration is allowed. This will be more intuitive and easier for drivers to recognize .”
Many people support painting speed signs on the road surface, because seeing signs at night or without reflective lights is sometimes difficult (Illustration photo)
Mr. Vu Dinh Loc (transportation business in Hanoi) said that this is especially useful when traveling at night: " Signs often do not have reflectors or are covered, but the road surface is always in close sight. Concise, clear information on the road can help drivers handle it promptly ."
Besides, some opinions say that painting directions on the road surface in the traffic, climate and infrastructure conditions in Vietnam also needs careful research.
Mr. Dinh Van Trong (in Ho Chi Minh City) raised the issue: “ Painting is easy, but keeping it from peeling or fading is another matter. When it rains, trucks run continuously, the road surface deteriorates very quickly. At that time, the value fades .”
Mr. Nguyen Huu Duc (traffic engineer in Da Nang ) analyzed: “ In countries like Japan and Korea, speed paint on the road surface is very popular and effective. However, their climate conditions, traffic volume and paint materials are very different. If applied in Vietnam, it is necessary to test in each specific area, from there evaluate and then replicate ”.
Regarding this issue, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that the issue of painting on the road surface some values and traffic signals such as prescribed speed, lanes for vehicle types or other traffic notices and instructions... is also part of the Department's traffic safety orientation.
The leaders of the Traffic Police Department worked directly with the leaders of the Department and units under the Vietnam Road Administration to discuss issues related to planning, construction, and development of traffic infrastructure, contributing to ensuring traffic order and safety.
A representative of the Traffic Police Department said that in the coming time, they will conduct a field survey on the North-South Expressway as a traffic participant, thereby proposing appropriate adjustments instead of just managing according to administrative thinking.
