Duc Thanh School relic, the pride of Binh Thuan people

A traditional cultural and educational address

On May 9, at the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan Branch, the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU) of 19 southern provinces and cities, led by Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union Do Thu Thao, organized a report to Uncle Ho on the emulation work of the Union in the first 6 months of the year.

This is the first delegation to present their achievements to Uncle Ho on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of his birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

Ms. Le Thi Hai Yen, President of the Women's Union of Binh Thuan Province (Head of the Southeast Emulation Cluster) said that the year 2025 has the theme "Promoting the role of women in participating in building a clean and strong Party and political system, ready to enter a new era, the era of national growth" , so the Women's Union of the Southeast and Southwest Emulation Clusters chose the location of Duc Thanh School (Phan Thiet City) to report to Him.

According to Ms. Yen, in 2025, the work of propaganda and education, improving knowledge and skills for women, such as implementing well the emulation movement "Building Vietnamese Women of the new era"; "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, has achieved many good results right from the first months of the year.

"Today (May 9), the Women's Unions of the Southeast and Southwest provinces have come here, the address where Uncle Ho's footsteps were imprinted, to report to Uncle Ho the emulation results achieved and promise to continuously study and follow Uncle Ho's example; continue to improve knowledge, promote patriotic emulation movements, and build Vietnamese women of the new era," said Ms. Le Thi Hai Yen.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nga, Head of the Interpretation Department, Ho Chi Minh Museum - Binh Thuan Branch, the reporting ceremony of the Women's Union of the Southeast and Southwest provinces at the museum on May 9 was the opening ceremony of May, on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

According to Ms. Nga, from now until Uncle Ho's birthday, it is expected that dozens of delegations and organizations from many provinces and cities across the country (about 135,000 visitors) will come to report and present their outstanding achievements to him. Currently, the museum has coordinated with relevant agencies to carefully prepare conditions to serve people and tourists who come to visit and report on the occasion of his birthday.

"Our mission is to prepare good conditions to serve the people and tourists who come to visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum, including the Duc Thanh School relic complex, on major holidays such as: the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday; the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2025)", Ms. Thu Nga shared.

The shining value of patriotism

Before leaving Nha Rong port to find a way to save the country, the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh stopped at Duc Thanh School to teach. According to documents of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the time Uncle stopped to teach at Duc Thanh School was from August (or September) 1910 to February 1911 when he went to Saigon.

Researchers rely on the stories of Nguyen Tat Thanh's students, Nguyen Quy Phau, Nguyen Dang Lau, Tu Truong Phung, Nguyen Kinh Chi and other documents to confirm that Uncle Ho taught Vietnamese, Chinese, French and Physical Education at Duc Thanh School. But there are also documents stating that "Mr. Thanh mainly taught Physical Education and taught in place of other teachers, and assisted in teaching the three subjects of Vietnamese, Chinese and French at Duc Thanh School".

In November 1978, the Duc Thanh relic complex was restored by Binh Thuan, including: Nguyen Thong's church, the old school where Uncle Ho taught; Ngu's house, where Uncle Ho stayed with his colleagues and students; Ngoa Du Sao house, where Uncle Ho often read books and discussed national affairs. In addition, in the Duc Thanh School complex, there is also a well and a star fruit tree in the garden that Uncle Ho personally took care of every day.

Therefore, Duc Thanh School is not only the pride of the Party Committee and people of Binh Thuan province, but also a vivid symbol of patriotism and determination to overcome the circumstances of the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh on the path to find a way to save the country. This place has become a red address in the journey of educating revolutionary traditions, fostering noble ideals for the young generation today and tomorrow.

The historical value of Duc Thanh School is also a strong testament to the spirit of studiousness, patriotism and determination to change the nation's destiny through knowledge and action.
