Finding color for historical footage

Vien Hong Quang (born in 1995, in Hanoi ) is the author of hundreds of color restorations of old documents about historical figures.

Vien Hong Quang started restoring old documents in early 2020. Right from the first days of pursuing this passion, Quang immediately thought of restoring color for black and white documentaries that were shown in the old days of Vietnam along with many valuable historical documents. Hong Quang attracted attention when in 2020, a color documentary film about President Ho Chi Minh being interviewed on June 5, 1964 by a reporter from the French Radio and Television Office (ORTF). This film "stirred up" young people on social networking platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. Viewers were truly moved by the extremely realistic and intimate images of President Ho Chi Minh. Talking about the reason for choosing color restoration of old documents as a passion, Hong Quang shared: "When participating in photo and video restoration, the job gives me the feeling of traveling through time. With documents about war, through film footage, I want to inspire many generations, especially the younger generation to learn more about Vietnamese history through the ages."
