Flower and ornamental plant rental service for Tet holiday

In recent years, every time Tet comes, instead of buying high-value flowers and ornamental plants, many families choose to rent services to display during Tet. With many conveniences, especially cost savings, this service is becoming more and more popular.

Since early December, Mr. Do Van Tam in Tan Hung commune ( Hung Yen city) has gone to a familiar garden in Lam Son ward to choose a peach tree to rent for Tet. Mr. Tam said: I work in the administrative department of a construction company. In previous years, the company often went to the Spring Flower Market in Hung Yen city to buy a peach tree for 10-15 million VND/tree. After Tet, it would be a pity to throw away the tree, but if I kept it, I wouldn't know how to grow and care for it. By chance, I found out that a flower and ornamental plant garden in Lam Son ward provided a tree rental service for Tet, so I advised the company's leaders to choose this service. I was able to go to the garden to choose, the rental price was only 1/3 of the price of buying the whole tree, the garden owner served very thoughtfully, I just needed to make a contract and set a date to receive it, they would transport it to the company themselves, then after Tet they would come and pick it up themselves.

Hung Yen city has about 30 hectares of ornamental peach trees, kumquats, grapefruits... concentrated in Hong Chau, Quang Chau, Lam Son wards and Trung Nghia commune. Since the beginning of the 12th lunar month, visitors have come to gardens to admire and rent peach trees with beautiful shapes and forms to display on the occasion of Tet. According to peach growers in the area, this year the weather has many disadvantages in production, the winter is warm with higher temperatures than previous years, and in December there is severe cold, so flower and ornamental plant growers have a hard time. However, with experience and applied technical measures, peach trees still have many flowers, big buds, and bright colors... Not only serving the needs in the area, many visitors from neighboring provinces and cities also come to rent. The rental price of peach trees ranges from 2 million VND/tree or more, if the tree is beautiful and has a unique shape, the rental price is up to 15 - 20 million VND/tree.

Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, a gardener in Hong Chau ward (Hung Yen city) said: Normally, with small peach trees, moderate prices, customers often spend money to buy the whole tree. With peach trees many years old, unique shapes priced at 15 - 20 million VND/tree, customers often hesitate. Therefore, to meet the need to have beautiful peach trees to play Tet without having to pay a lot of money, I will rent them to customers at a price of only 30 - 40% of the cost of buying the whole tree.

According to experienced gardeners, choosing a peach tree to rent for Tet that is satisfactory and affordable is not easy. Many "savvy" customers often order about 1 - 1.5 months before Tet to be able to choose more beautiful trees. After December 15, there will not be many beautiful trees left...

Tea is a valuable flower, not everyone is willing to spend a large amount of money to buy ancient tea trees worth tens to hundreds of millions of dong to display during Tet. Therefore, many garden owners in Phung Cong commune (Van Giang) have developed an additional service of renting trees during Tet.

Mr. Ly Van Loi, Phung Cong commune said: My family currently has about 2 hectares of camellia flowers, selling thousands of plants to the market every year on the occasion of Lunar New Year. In recent years, in addition to selling plants, I also rent them out to customers at a price equivalent to 30% of the selling price. This year, I have 20 ancient camellia trees with pink octahedron, deep pink octahedron... from 22 to over 40 years old for rent at a price of 7 to 60 million VND/tree. These trees have a base circumference of 40cm or more; height from 3 - 4m, canopy width of 2.5 - 3m, trees with many flowers, evenly distributed and blooming right on Lunar New Year, so customers are very fond of them.

Mr. Loi added that the tree rental procedure is very simple. Customers come to the garden to choose the tree they like, then pay a deposit corresponding to the rental price and agree on a date to receive the tree (usually after the full moon of January). The transportation and care steps are guided or directly performed by the gardener.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung in Hanoi said: In the past, my family spent a lot of money to buy trees to play with during Tet. Because we did not know how to take care of them, most of them had to be thrown away after Tet, which was a waste. This year, I decided to rent an old tea tree for 10 million VND, while if I bought it outright, it would cost 3 times more.

Due to reasonable prices and convenience in use, many families have chosen to rent flowers and ornamental plants for Tet instead of buying them as before. However, according to gardeners and experienced customers, the lessor and the lessee need to make a clear contract with specific terms stipulating the responsibilities, rights and obligations of both parties to avoid disputes when the plants are unfortunately damaged or die...
