The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced the exam scores and admission standards for 10th grade in specialized high schools for the 2025-2026 academic year.

According to regulations, this year Hanoi will announce the exam results and the admission cutoff scores for 10th grade at the same time to avoid causing confusion among students and parents.

Currently, Hanoi has four specialized high schools: Hanoi - Amsterdam (Ams), Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An, and Son Tay.

This year, the chemistry class at Hanoi Amsterdam High School for Gifted Students had the highest cutoff score with 42.75 points, while the biology class had the lowest with 34 points. The Chinese and history classes also had the lowest cutoff scores at 37.15 and 37.25 respectively.

At Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, the chemistry class also had a high cutoff score of 40 points, while the French class had the lowest cutoff score at 30.20 points, and the biology class at 35.50 points.

At Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, the chemistry specialization required 38.25 points, and the history specialization required 33.25 points.

At Son Tay Specialized High School, the specialized classes in literature, chemistry, and mathematics have higher admission scores, at 34.25 points, 31.50 points, and 32 points respectively.

For the 2025-2026 academic year, the enrollment target for 10th grade in Hanoi's four specialized high schools is 2,730 students, corresponding to 78 classes. Compared to the previous academic year, the target for specialized schools in the 2025-2026 academic year has increased by nearly 500 students.

Specifically, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted increased its enrollment quota from 533 to 665, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted increased from 763 to 840, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted increased from 600 to 700, and Son Tay High School for the Gifted increased from 349 to 525.

Candidates in Hanoi can register their preferences for admission to the specialized 10th grade classes of two specialized high schools. Candidates applying to specialized schools must take exams in mathematics, literature, foreign language (general exam) and a specialized subject.

The admission score for specialized schools is the sum of the scores from the three subjects (mathematics, literature, and foreign language) in the general exam (coefficient 1), plus the score in the specialized subject (coefficient 2), plus any bonus or incentive points (if applicable).

According to Hanoi's schedule, schools will receive exam result slips no later than July 8th to issue to students. Students wishing to appeal their results should submit their appeal applications between July 4th and July 10th.

From July 10th to 12th, admitted students must confirm their enrollment (online or in person). On July 17th, schools that have not yet met their enrollment quotas will conduct supplementary admissions, and from July 19th to 22nd, students admitted through the supplementary admissions process must confirm their enrollment.

On July 28th, candidates received their exam review results, and from July 28th to July 30th, schools continued processing student files after the review, and admitted candidates (after the review) confirmed their enrollment.

Previously, the entrance exam for 10th grade in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year took place on June 7th and 9th for both specialized and non-specialized schools.

In Hanoi, nearly 104,000 candidates registered to take the entrance exam for 10th grade in public high schools. The enrollment quota for public high schools in Hanoi accounts for approximately 64% of the number of candidates, about 2% higher than last year.
