However, this bank still boasts the highest pre-tax profit among those that have announced their financial results.

VPBank also experienced a sharp decline in pre-tax profits. For the first nine months of 2023, the bank's pre-tax profit decreased by 58% compared to the same period last year, reaching VND 8,279 billion. In contrast, in 2022, VPBank's pre-tax profit for the first nine months reached VND 19,837 billion.
The next two banks that also saw pre-tax profits decrease by trillions of dong compared to the same period last year are LPBank and TPBank.
Specifically, LPBank's pre-tax profit for the first nine months of 2023 reached VND 3,687 billion, a decrease of VND 1,135 billion (23.5%) compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, TPBank's pre-tax profit for the first nine months of this year reached VND 4,959 billion, a decrease of VND 967 billion (16%) compared to the same period in 2022.

The remaining 7 banks experienced a sharp decline in profits, mostly smaller banks, with BVBank showing the most significant drop. BVBank's pre-tax profit for the first 9 months of 2023 was 61 billion VND, a decrease of over 85% compared to the same period last year (423 billion VND).
Banks such as Bac A Bank, Viet A Bank, PGBank, BaoVietBank, and ABBank saw their pre-tax profits in the first nine months of the year decrease by 7% - 63% compared to the same period in 2022.
At the bottom of the list and suffering losses is NCB Bank. In the first nine months of 2023, NCB Bank lost 231 billion VND, compared to a loss of 180 billion VND in the same period last year. This is also the bank with the highest non-performing loan ratio in the banking industry today, reaching 26%.
