Thanks to the attention of the Party and the State, during the period 2021-2025, the entire political system of An Giang province has been involved in implementing ethnic policies, focusing on supporting production development and investing in infrastructure construction, especially public welfare projects. As a result, the material and spiritual lives of ethnic minorities have been improved, poverty reduction has been gradually eliminated, and their lives have become more stable.
Specifically, implementing credit policies using various central government funds, the province has supported ethnic minorities in borrowing capital to develop their economy and improve their lives, and reduce poverty. An Giang supported 6,120 households with loans for production development totaling 30,600 million VND, while other credit programs provided loans to nearly 20,000 ethnic minorities for production and business activities totaling nearly 240,000 million VND.

Implementing the policy of issuing health insurance cards to people in disadvantaged communes according to Government Decrees No. 146 and No. 75, the province has issued approximately 164 health insurance cards to people in disadvantaged and especially disadvantaged communes in the province.
The work of disseminating and educating on the law and promoting awareness among ethnic minority communities was carried out during the period 2017-2021. Additionally, 12,500 leaflets in both Vietnamese and Khmer related to gender and gender equality were printed and distributed to the people.

In particular, An Giang province pays attention to the criteria for selecting and recognizing influential individuals and the policies for these individuals among ethnic minority communities. The province has 451 influential individuals among ethnic minority communities, and has fully implemented policies with a budget of nearly 1 million VND, including visiting those who are sick, organizing training courses, and disseminating information.

Implementing the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, Phase 1, 2021-2025; the Program has invested in infrastructure construction, transformed the rural landscape, developed education and healthcare, and improved people's lives... Through this, it has built trust among the people, especially ethnic minorities, in the Party and the State, contributing to maintaining political security and social order in these areas.
Over the years, the Central Government has issued many guidelines and policies for ethnic minorities. Based on these, the An Giang Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee have led and directed the concretization, implementation, and effective organization of ethnic policies, thereby improving the economy and living standards of the people; investing in culture and society; maintaining security and order; and enabling ethnic minorities to strive for advancement in labor, production, education, and work.
However, according to the An Giang Provincial Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, several difficulties and obstacles remain in the implementation process, such as: the programs, projects, and ethnic policies are not implemented synchronously; some sub-projects lack clear guidelines; coordination between agencies and units in implementing programs and projects is sometimes not tight enough; the program management and operation apparatus from the district to the commune level is in place, but most staff work on a part-time basis, and the staff directly implementing the program at the grassroots level are insufficient and lack capacity and experience.
An Giang has a natural area of over 9,800 km2, with a border with the Kingdom of Cambodia approximately 147.8 km long; it has 102 subordinate administrative units at the grassroots level, including 65 communes and wards and 46 hamlets, neighborhoods, and villages in ethnic minority areas, and 9 communes and 49 hamlets classified as particularly difficult areas; 14 communes and wards are located in the land border region. An Giang currently has 29 ethnic groups living together, but the majority are Khmer, Cham, and Hoa people.
