According to the provincial planning, based on the characteristics of resource distribution and characteristics of infrastructure and technical facilities for tourism, Quang Nam will distribute types of tourism activities into 4 main spaces.

In particular, the space for developing tourism of cultural and historical heritages is located in the Northeast of the province, including Hoi An and the localities of Dien Ban and Duy Xuyen, with the center being the tourist city of Hoi An.

Hoi An and its surrounding areas are oriented to develop cultural tourism strengths, including visiting relics, attending festivals, ethnic art programs, craft villages, conference tourism, sea tourism, resort tourism...

Prioritize the development of Cu Lao Cham island into a high-class beach resort. Along the Dien Ngoc - Cam An coast and along the Co Co river, develop high-class resorts, entertainment areas, and hotels of 3 stars or higher.

According to the orientation, Hoi An connects with neighboring areas to form one of the major tourist centers of the country with international competitiveness.

Besides, Dien Ban is also located on the route connecting Hoi An with My Son World Cultural Heritage Site to exploit the strengths of cultural tourism, relic visits, research tourism of Champa culture, Sa Huynh culture, revolutionary historical relics. Cultural tourism combined with eco-tourism.

The main types of tourism that can be developed in this area include: heritage tourism; international-class resort tourism; island eco-tourism; sea sports tourism with many types; community tourism; entertainment tourism; weekend tourism.

Dien Ban is currently considered a tourist destination with strong cultural, historical and traditional craft village imprints. Located between Hoi An and Da Nang, Dien Ban plays a pivotal role in linking the tourism space of the South Central Coast region.

A representative of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Dien Ban town said that the locality is focusing on developing tourism in the direction of "agricultural tourism - countryside - craft village", maximizing the exploitation of indigenous values ​​to create sustainable attraction.

Space synchronization

According to the orientation, in the future, Dien Ban, Hoi An and Da Nang will form a chain of products and inter-regional routes: from the yacht pier connecting Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An - Dien Ban - Da Nang, to the 3-4 star coastal resort zone, the entertainment area along the Co Co river, and developing community tourism along the Thu Bon river.

Craft villages such as Phuoc Kieu bronze casting, Triem Tay split mats, Phu Chiem rice paper or community tourism in the communes of Go Noi are gradually being invested in, bringing experiences associated with the history, customs and beliefs of Quang Nam residents.

There is still a lot of room for unique cultural space to develop tourism in this urban area. According to the overall socio-economic development plan of Dien Ban town in the period of 2021 - 2030, this locality chooses to develop green space, create highlights and form tourism development coordinates connecting to the tourism development strategy of the key economic region of the Central region.

Accordingly, area 1 includes the Dien Duong - Dien Ngoc sea tourism space to Co Co river and spreading to the west, associated with high-class resort tourism.

Area 2 is identified on both sides of Vinh Dien River as the main public space associated with commercial, service, cultural entertainment activities, connecting eco-tourism tours on the Cam Le - Go Noi route.

Besides, the area develops eco-tourism, traditional craft villages of Thanh Chiem - Go Noi sub-region, associated with homestay activities, cultural and culinary discovery tourism, and agricultural education practices.

In the future, when Quang Nam and Da Nang merge to form a regional urban area or an expanded centrally-governed city, Dien Ban urban areas will not only be geographically intermediate locations, but also become strategic gateways, where heritage, coastal urban areas and the unique ecological and cultural space of the Central region intersect.

Currently, Dien Ban has an advantageous location, only 30 minutes from the center of Da Nang. Urban experts believe that after the merger, barriers to inter-regional planning will be removed, creating conditions for integrating infrastructure systems and expectations for upgrading investment in community tourism clusters will also be opened.
