On the afternoon of April 29th, the Steering Committee for High School Entrance Examinations in Dien Bien province held a meeting to discuss preparations for the 2026-2027 school year entrance exam. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Doat, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee, and attended by members of the Steering Committee for High School Entrance Examinations for the 2026-2027 school year.
At the meeting, delegates heard reports on the plan and methods for organizing the enrollment of 10th grade students for high schools, the Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School, Le Quy Don Specialized High School, and the continuing education program at the high school level for the 2026-2027 school year. The allocation of enrollment quotas will be based on the availability of facilities, teaching staff, and the planning of the school network in the area.

According to the plan, the 10th grade entrance exam is scheduled to take place on May 25th and 26th at 33 testing locations throughout the province. Candidates will take three compulsory subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English, with time allotted for each subject being 90 minutes, 120 minutes, and 60 minutes respectively. Many testing locations are situated in remote areas where transportation is difficult.
Regarding student admissions, high schools conduct admissions based on designated geographical areas. Students who register for their first choice but are not admitted can still use their exam results to apply to other high schools within the same geographical area if there are still vacancies. During the process, the Department of Education will adjust the admission quotas and geographical areas accordingly based on the actual situation.
Specifically, Le Quy Don Specialized High School organizes an entrance exam with 3 common subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and Foreign Language, and 1 specialized subject specific to each specialized class. The time allotted for the specialized subject exam is 120 minutes. Students who do not pass the entrance exam for the specialized school can use their results from the common subjects to apply to other high schools in the area, similar to candidates applying to non-specialized schools.

At the meeting, delegates generally agreed on the content and assigned tasks to the members of the Steering Committee; they also discussed and clarified several issues related to the number of registered candidates, invigilators, inspection and supervision, reserve examination sites, plans for handling student health situations, ensuring traffic safety, and communication before, during, and after the exam.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Doat emphasized the need to immediately move from the preparation phase to the implementation phase in a substantive and effective manner; ensuring the exam takes place safely and without errors at any stage. At the same time, departments, agencies, and localities need to proactively coordinate and implement tasks synchronously, from ensuring security, health , transportation, electricity, to communication, in order to organize the exam seriously and in accordance with regulations.
