Regarding the controversial case of "Parents upset about being charged 100,000 VND/student for 'TV maintenance' fees, Hong Bang Primary, Secondary and High School (Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province) has just announced that it will stop collecting this fee in the 2024-2025 school year.

Specifically, according to the plan for the parent meeting at the beginning of the year, the school has mobilized parents to contribute a TV maintenance fee of 100,000 VND/student/year.

According to the school, after recording parents' opinions and reviewing relevant documents, the school's board of directors decided not to continue raising the above amount of money.

In case the student has paid, it will be deducted from the next month's tuition.

As VietNamNet reported, parents of Hong Bang Primary, Secondary and High School were upset about the "TV maintenance" fee of 100,000 VND/student.

Mr. Pham Viet Thang, the school's principal, said that the school has just replaced the old 50-inch TV with a 65-inch smart TV this school year.

According to Mr. Do Dang Bao Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, non-public schools are free to negotiate tuition fees with parents. The Department will work with the school and make adjustments to comply with regulations.
