Many businesses have switched to IP telephony, integrating modern technology, to save costs and meet specialized needs. Zee Hussain, senior vice president at AT&T, asserts that this is a “very important business segment,” especially in reception areas and restaurants.
He said the desk phone is not only a means of communication but also a tool for monitoring, archiving and supporting legal compliance. Hotels still maintain hundreds of landline phones to serve guests, especially in emergencies. Even companies that are going digital are encountering obstacles because many employees are reluctant to give up this familiar device.
