This meaningful event was organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vietnam in coordination with the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30); the 71st anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory Day (May 7) and the 80th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9).
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Prof. Bezdetko; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou; Head of the Representative Office of the Federal Cooperation Agency of the Russian Federation in Vietnam VV Murashkin; representatives of leaders of Vietnamese ministries and departments - close partners of the Russian Embassy, the Russian Center for Science and Culture, Vietnamese veterans, Vietnamese students....
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States Russia in Vietnam Professor Bezdetko emphasized: The event "Immortal Regiment" has become a tradition both in Russia and around the world , to commemorate the participants of the Great Patriotic War - the frontline soldiers, guerrillas and those working in the rear who brought the long-awaited victory closer.
“We do not forget the Vietnamese volunteers who fought side by side with the Soviet soldiers in 1941-1945. Their names are immortalized on the memorial stele of the Memory Lane Museum in Patriot Park on the outskirts of Moscow. To commemorate the Vietnamese soldiers, a monument was erected on the territory of the complex depicting them in the uniform of the Red Army of the Soviet Union. We pay tribute to the heroes of the Vietnamese national liberation movement, who liberated South Vietnam and contributed to the reunification of the country 50 years ago,” Ambassador Professor Bezdetko emphasized.
According to Ambassador Professor Bezdetko, the victory in 1945 fundamentally changed the world map, opening a new page in the history of humanity. The Ambassador affirmed: “It is important not to forget the lessons of the past. As long as we remember the events of those distant years, we still have hope that similar tragedies will not repeat themselves.”
Sharing the same view, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Vietnam Uladzimir Baravikou said that it is necessary to preserve historical truth. “The truth is that the Soviet people made a decisive contribution to the defeat of the fascist hordes!... It was Soviet soldiers who liberated Prague, Vienna, Budapest and occupied Berlin!”, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou stated.
“The program is an opportunity for the young generation to respect, show gratitude and pay tribute to the heroes, veterans and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation, for the independence, peace and freedom of the two countries as well as the world,” affirmed Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quang Bon, Principal of the Fire Prevention and Fighting University.
Before the "Immortal Legion" parade, Ambassador Professor Bezdetko and his wife and delegates planted a souvenir tree.
Within the framework of the memorial ceremony, many activities took place such as: Displaying photos on the theme of the Great Patriotic War; planting souvenir trees and distributing Georgi ribbons; music programs honoring heroic martyrs as well as praising the relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
