The rise of high-tech crime, including impersonating government agencies to commit phone scams, is a hot topic attracting widespread attention.
These individuals employ sophisticated tactics, such as impersonating judicial or government agencies, causing significant harm to the public. Although authorities have been cracking down on these scams, some individuals and organizations remain unsuspecting and fall victim to their schemes.

During the 6th session of the 15th National Assembly, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung affirmed the need for specific solutions to prevent this situation, including the identification of calls from state agencies.
Accordingly, the Department of Telecommunications has collaborated with telecommunications companies to implement a call identification service for mobile phone numbers of state agencies. Specifically, the name of the agency will be displayed on the recipient's phone screen instead of just the phone number. This allows citizens to easily identify calls and avoid fraudulent calls.
Currently, 732 mobile phone numbers belonging to state agencies have been registered for identification to facilitate direct communication with organizations and individuals for professional purposes. When receiving calls from these registered numbers, people will see the name of the state agency displayed on the screen. However, people should be extremely cautious of 10-digit phone numbers (starting with 03, 05, 07, 09) that claim to be from state agencies but do not display the registered name, as these may be fraudulent calls intended for scams.
The Ministry of Information and Communications is also actively implementing the identification of fixed telephone numbers registered by state agencies. However, this requires technological transformation, equipment upgrades, and network infrastructure improvements, so more time is still needed.
The Ministry of Information and Communications also advises that when receiving calls claiming to be from government agencies, people should carefully verify the information and may request a call back to the identified mobile number to ensure accuracy. If they suspect a call is fraudulent, they should report it to the authorities for timely action.
