Mekong-Korea Cooperation Orientation: Digitalization and Innovation

(HTV) - The 13th Mekong-Korea Business Forum opened in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of representatives from the Government, trade promotion organizations, and business communities from the Mekong region and Korea.

This is an annual dialogue mechanism maintained since 2013, aiming to strengthen the connection between Mekong sub-regional enterprises and Korea, opening up opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in accessing markets, finding partners, attracting investment and transferring technology.

The 13th Mekong-Korea Business Forum officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City

The 13th Mekong-Korea Business Forum with the theme: "Digitalization and Innovation" with presentations by representatives of corporations, start-ups, innovative enterprises, digital technology , business associations, innovation networks of Mekong countries and Korea. Representatives of financial institutions, investment funds of Korea and Mekong countries exchanged activities, approaches and resource sharing.

Mr. Vo Tan Thanh - Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said that the theme of this year's forum, "Digitalization and Innovation: Key to Promoting Mekong - Korea Enterprises Transformation and Cooperation", is a timely and strategic choice. The event is organized to promote the implementation of important resolutions of the Party, including Resolution 57 on science and technology development, as well as Resolution 68 on private economic development.

Mr. Gi-Hyun Kim - Vice President in charge of external affairs, Korea International Trade Association (KITA), said that Korea has always been considered one of the world's leading countries in technology, especially in the fields of information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, microchip design, e-commerce and smart logistics. These are the fields that create global competitive advantages for Korea and are also urgent needs that Mekong countries, including Vietnam, are aiming for.

Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy emphasized that digital technology, artificial intelligence, and smart supply chains are vital factors for businesses to deeply integrate into the global value chain.

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized Vietnam's goal by 2030, the digital economy accounts for 40% of GRDP, 40% of innovative enterprises and has at least 5 international digital technology enterprises.

The contents that Ho Chi Minh City is interested in are objective and honest assessments of the cooperation situation of the parties, proposals for key cooperation, defining immediate tasks and long-term goals. At the same time, it is necessary to frankly see the bottlenecks in digital cooperation in all fields to find solutions, find strategic partners with public-private cooperation initiatives, strongly support the start-up wave, and promote value-added cooperation.
