Novak Djokovic had a convincing win over Cameron Norrie on the morning of August 30, overcoming early fitness concerns to book a place in the fourth round. The Serb defeated his opponent 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-3, ending a two-match unimpressive winning streak.

Despite the dramatic moments regarding his fitness, Djokovic reassured fans about his condition. "It's okay. Athletes have ups and downs. I don't want to reveal too much to my opponents who are listening and watching this interview," Djokovic replied cautiously when asked about his back injury during an on-court interview.
"I'm fine, guys," he added. "I'm still as young as ever, as healthy as ever. This is New York. Even if I feel something physically wrong, the energy I feel on this field still overwhelms everything."
The No. 7 seed started strong, dropping just two points on serve and hitting 17 winners in the first set. However, a courtside medical call after the ninth game left fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium worried.
The four-time US Open champion suffered lower back pain late in the first set after a difficult net play. Before serving to take the set 6-4, the 38-year-old left the court to receive treatment in the locker room from ATP physiotherapist Clay Sniteman.

Djokovic also received treatment during the first change of court in the second set, but from that point on he played without any problems for the rest of the match.
In a high-quality match, Norrie hit 44 winners, including 27 forehands. Djokovic also hit 51, including 18 aces, his personal best at Flushing Meadows.
"Overall, it was probably the best serve of the tournament. Of course, I'm happy about that. It was probably one of the most important shots, if not the most important shot of the match. So I'm very happy with the way I executed that shot," Djokovic added.
In the fourth round, Djokovic will face German Jan-Lennard Struff, who upset 2024 semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(7). The seven-time ATP Finals champion, who has spent 428 weeks as world No. 1, is seeded No. 7 and could face Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals and Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.
Djokovic won his 24th and most recent major title at Flushing Meadows in 2023. Norrie, meanwhile, has never beaten a Top 10 player at a major (0-11) and is 0-7 in his series against Djokovic.
