The speech at the ceremony was presented by Colonel Van Dinh Nhat, Head of the 296th Nursing Group, stating: On June 1, 1955, Group 40 was established, under the Ministry of National Defense , to provide nursing care for soldiers in the South and Inter-zone 5. This was the predecessor unit of the 296th Nursing Group. When it was first established, the Group had only 15 officers and soldiers with 4 rows of dilapidated thatched houses.

During this time, the Delegation also welcomed Comrade Ton Duc Thang, General Nguyen Chi Thanh and the family of Prince Souphanouvong (who later becamePresident of the Lao People's Democratic Republic ) to come for a vacation.

In April 1959, Group 40 changed its name to Nursing Group 296. From then on, the Group was assigned the additional task of being the rear line of military hospitals, organizing receptions and serving cadres throughout the army. When the US imperialists waged a war of destruction in the North, the cadres, employees and soldiers of Group 296 both carried out combat missions and received, cared for and restored their health, contributing to the evacuation of tens of thousands of cadres, soldiers, wounded and sick soldiers. During the years when the US imperialists fiercely attacked the North, the Group organized the evacuation of cadres, wounded and sick soldiers and successfully completed its mission.

In 1976, the Delegation was transferred to the Political Department, General Department of Logistics (now the General Department of Logistics and Engineering). Since the country's renovation, in addition to the task of welcoming and serving cadres and their families for convalescence and vacation, the Delegation has also had the honor of welcoming, serving, and ensuring the safety of Party and State leaders and veteran revolutionary cadres.

Entering the country's renovation, the 296th Nursing Corps has combined well the investment resources of superiors and promoted the internal strength of the unit, promoted the construction and consolidation of barracks, invested in modern and convenient facilities, and served guests for relaxation.... Every year, it has organized the reception and service of hundreds of thousands of cadres and employees throughout the army; thousands of international guests, along with many leaders of the Party, State, and Ministry of National Defense coming to relax, attend conferences and seminars, ensuring dedication, care, and absolute safety.... Up to now, the Corps has become one of the major resort centers of the Army in the North Central region, a typical unit in implementing the nursing work in the Army.

With its outstanding achievements in work, the Group was honored to receive the Second Class Fatherland Protection Medal from the President.
