The delegation was led by Colonel Do Hong Duyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Naval Region 2 Command; Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, as Deputy Head of the delegation. Also participating were many leaders of local press agencies, including Mr. Nguyen Tien Vu, Editor-in-Chief of Bac Ninh Newspaper, President of the Provincial Journalists Association; and Pham Vu Tuan, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Journalists Association.
Before departure, on the afternoon of May 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Naval Region 2 Command held a conference to brief the delegation on their tasks. Here, the delegates signed a competition agreement, demonstrating their determination to successfully complete their tasks throughout the journey.
Delegates witnessed the signing ceremony of the emulation agreement between working groups.
Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Quoc Minh affirmed that the agencies and units in the delegation have proactively and actively prepared carefully in all aspects. “With the authorization of the Head of the delegation, I officially launched the emulation movement with the theme: “Solidarity, loyalty, achievements, determination to win”. This is a call for each member to promote patriotism, be ready to overcome difficulties, and excellently complete the tasks during the working trip to Truong Sa and DK1”, Mr. Minh emphasized.
Within the framework of the program, the delegation will organize meetings, visits, and present many practical gifts to officers, soldiers, and people living and working on the islands of Truong Sa archipelago and the DK1 platform area. This activity not only contributes to encouraging the spirit of the forces on duty at the front line, but also demonstrates the deep companionship of the press with the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.
Notably, at the conference before the trip, comrade Le Quoc Minh, on behalf of the national press team and accompanying units, donated 1.7 billion VND to support the Navy in building the CQ-01 boat. In addition, the delegation also donated 15 solar power systems worth 1.68 billion VND and many other meaningful gifts prepared by the members.
This visit to Truong Sa is not only an important political and social activity, but also an opportunity for journalists to gain a deeper understanding of the lives and indomitable will of officers, soldiers and people on the islands. Thereby, contributing to spreading the message of love for the homeland and the awareness of protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland to the public throughout the country.
