June 2025 witnessed a strong wave of startups when the number of newly registered businesses reached a record high - more than 24,000 units, more than double the average for the period 2021-2024. Not only stopping at the impressive number, the number of businesses returning to operation in the month also exceeded 14,000 units, an increase of nearly 91% over the same period last year.
The above information was announced by Ms. Trinh Thi Huong - Deputy Director of the Department of Private Enterprise Development and Collective Economy ( Ministry of Finance ) - at the regular press conference of the second quarter of 2025.
In the first 6 months of the year, the whole country had more than 91,000 newly established businesses and 61,000 businesses returned to the market, an increase of more than 57% over the same period in 2024.
“The number of businesses entering and re-entering the market has exceeded the number of businesses withdrawing. This clearly reflects the increasingly strengthened confidence in the prospects of economic recovery and development,” Ms. Huong emphasized.
Not only enterprises, but also the household business sector recorded outstanding growth. In June alone, the number of newly established household businesses was 2.4 times higher than the monthly average of the past 2-3 years. In addition, additional capital of operating enterprises increased by over 170% compared to the same period last year, showing great expectations for business opportunities and market potential.
This positive result, according to the Ministry of Finance, shows that the business support policies implemented by the Party and State in recent times are clearly effective.
In the second half of the year, the Ministry of Finance said it will continue to advise the Government to promote administrative procedure reform, reduce and simplify regulations related to production and business activities. At the same time, it will strictly control the assessment of policy impacts, increase consultation with affected subjects, and review and immediately eliminate administrative procedures that are hindering businesses and people.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance focuses on supporting businesses to develop according to new trends: digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, digital economy, and shared business models. Priority sectors include wholesale, retail, processing and manufacturing industry, tourism, logistics, etc.
Synchronous and timely solutions are expected to continue to create a favorable environment for the business community to develop sustainably, contributing positively to economic growth.
